Red Bulls Building a Streak
Last season, New York City FC ended up winning the MLS Cup. This season, it seems like the New York Red Bulls want to emulate their neighbors. They currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference and come in as soccer betting favorites -190 to defeat the Portland Timbers.
Speaking of last season’s runner-up, Portland has only won one of its last seven games. If the Timbers don’t start winning, head coach Giovanni Savarese could be unemployed soon.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and USA MLS odds for New York Red Bulls vs Portland Timbers. We’ve plenty of soccer predictions predictions for you to consider.
New York Red Bulls: Better on the Road
Believe it or not, the Red Bulls are sitting in the Eastern Conference second place despite not having won at home. They’re 0-2-2 at Red Bull Arena. On the other hand, they remain unbeaten when playing on the road. They own a 5-0-0 record.
Last weekend, they defeated the Chicago Fire 2-1. They came from behind, led by an amazing Patryk Klimala, who scored both goals. The second one was from the penalty spot with no time left on the clock. Chicago finished the game with nine players, but both red cards were in the last 10 minutes.
Such a performance allowed Klimala to regain some much-needed confidence. Prior to that game, he had scored only one goal. He and Lewis Morgan (four goals) have the potential to become of the best-attacking duos in the league.
Yes, the Red Bulls haven’t won at home, but they put up a good fight in each game. They scored in two of the four games, while also finishing with a clean sheet twice. Plus, momentum is on their side and they’ve no major injury concerns. In other words, they truly deserve to be the betting online favorites.
Portland Timbers Need to Bounce Back
The Portland Timbers currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference. The good news is that they’re only one point behind seventh place. That’s the last one to grant a ticket for the Playoff.
Most recently, the Timbers lost 2-0 to the Colorado Rapids. It was a disappointing defeat because the Rapids played the last 30 minutes with 10 players. Even so, Colorado finished with three more shots on target.
Prior to that defeat, the Timbers drew 0-0 to Real Salt Lake and the Houston Dynamo. So, what the hell is happening to the attacking unit!? Yimmi Chara and Sebastian Blanco missed the game against Colorado, but that’s no excuse. The good news is that both are expected to return.
Portland’s lone victory on the road was a goal-fest. They went to Vancouver and defeated the Whitecaps 3-2. Dairon Asprilla, Jaroslaw Niezgoda, and Chara were the scorers. If that aggressive team shows up in Harrison, Portland could pull off the online gambling upset. If you bet $100 on them and they do so, your payout would be $600.

New York Red Bulls vs Portland Timbers Prediction
We’re talking about different realities. However, matchups between these two are usually pretty close. And if there’s something you can expect, it’s goals. These two have drawn 0-0 only once. For the Red Bulls, it’s the perfect opportunity to finally win at home. It won’t be easy, though. The Timbers will put up a fight, enough for the total to go over, precisely my football predictions.
