Red Devils Rising? Belgium’s Euro 2024 Odds Offer Value vs Slovakia

Once upon a time, Belgium was among the soccer betting favorites to win every major tournament. Now, the Red Devils are considered a dark horse to win the 2024 UEFA Euro with +1600 odds to win the title.

However, Belgium was lucky enough to be drawn into Group E, which doesn’t include any significant threats. Their first game will be against Slovakia, where they’re listed at -210 betting odds to win.

No Thibaut Courtois, No Problem!

Despite recovering from injury and playing in the UEFA Champions League final with Real Madrid, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wasn’t called up to play in the European Championship.

No need to worry. Backup Koen Casteels is very good, and Belgium’s midfield and attacking unit are elite, which brings me to my first betting pick for this match: Over 2½ goals (-130).

Kevin De Bruyne remains one of the best midfielders in the game. His vision and technique are exquisite. According to our latest soccer odds, he’s +150 to finish with 1+ assist. Take it!

And the best part is that he has a new wingman in Lois Openda, who had a magnificent season with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. He finished with 24 goals. If you ask me, Openda must be the starter over Romelu Lukaku. Don’t get me wrong, Lukaku is a great player, and he scored 14 goals during the qualifiers, but Openda is faster and more versatile.

Belgium averaged 2.7 goals in the qualifiers, conceding only four goals in total, which confirms we’re talking about a well-balanced squad.

Finally, if Openda and Lukaku don’t meet expectations, there’s Jeremy Doku. Doku is 22 but is already one of the best wingers in the game. Pep Guardiola wasted no time making him part of Manchester City’s rotation and the results were exceptional. He’s +200 to finish with 1+ assist. Again, take it!

Belgium vs Slovakia Betting Tips

  • Belgium won the last meeting between the two 2-1.
  • Slovakia is winless against Belgium (0-2-1).
  • Both scored in each of their previous three meetings.
  • The total has gone over 2½ goals in one of their three encounters.
  • Belgium hasn’t lost in its last 15 games.
  • Slovakia averaged 1.7 goals during the qualifiers.
  • Belgium averaged 2.7 goals during the qualifiers.
  • Slovakia wins 45% of halftimes, Belgium wins 81%.

Is Slovakia at +580 Worth the Risk?

All 16 teams that will take part in the 2024 UEFA Euro deserve respect, but no, Slovakia at +580 isn’t worth the risk.

Yes, the Falcons finished the qualifiers 7-1-2, but guess what? Those two defeats were against Portugal, the powerhouse of the group. Portugal and Belgium play a very similar style.

Individually, Lukas Haraslin finished as the team’s top scorer with three goals. That’s 11 fewer goals than Lukaku, who finished as Belgium’s top scorer during the qualifiers. Haraslin is +550 in the sportsbook to finish with 1+ goals against Belgium. The difference is abysmal.

Slovakia’s roster includes a couple of familiar names, Milan Skriniar and Stanislav Lobotka. Skriniar was crucial for PSG to win three titles in the 2023-24 season, while Lobotka remains one of Napoli’s best players. Two seasons ago, he was crucial for the Azzurri to win the Serie A title for the first time since 1987.

Summing up, Slovakia has what it takes to put up a good fight, but not enough to pull off the stunner. I can see Belgium winning by two goals, which leads me to my final soccer prediction: Belgium -1, -1½ handicap at Ev money.
