Red Bulls Tempting Underdogs
Prior to the start of the season, the New England Revolution was the clear favorite to dethrone New York City FC. Things have slightly changed after Bruce Arena’s team started 1-1-2.
They remain a competitive side, no doubt about it. However, I’m not so sure they deserve to control the soccer odds for Saturday’s game. The New York Red Bulls remain unbeaten when playing on the road and have outscored their opponents 7-2.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and USA MLS odds for Revolution vs Red Bulls . We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.
New England Revolution Not Meeting Expectations
Last season, the New England Revolution finished atop the Eastern Conference. Arena won Coach of the Year. Matt Turner won Goalkeeper of the Year. Carles Gil won Comeback Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. In other words, the only thing missing was the title.
How could they not be the favorites for 2022? The thing is that they’ve had a rocky start. Most recently, they lost 3-1 to Charlotte FC, MLS newest franchise. They also lost their last home game 3-2 to Real Salt Lake. The Revolution were the betting online favorite in both games.
The damage control doesn’t end there. Prior to the international break, Pumas UNAM eliminated them from the CONCACAF Champions League. The crazy part is that New England won the first leg 3-0.
So…what is happening!? For starters, they played five games in 15 days. That’s quite a lot. In that regard, thanks to the international break, they’ve had more time to prepare for this contest.
Second, the team added some new pieces during the offseason, including veterans Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Lletget. No matter how good a team is, new pieces always need some time to adapt. The coaching staff hopes the international break has also helped with that.
The Revolution is offering a -120 price, pretty generous considering everything I just mentioned.
New York Red Bulls Exceeding Expectations
Expectations around the New York Red Bulls weren’t as high as New England’s. However, Gerhard Struber’s team has responded in a great way, starting with a 2-1-1 record and scoring eight goals. Only the Columbus Crew has scored more goals in the Eastern Conference.
Precisely, the Red Bulls’ last game was against the Crew. It ended 1-1, but the Red Bulls almost got away with the victory. Tom Barlow opened the can for New York with only six minutes left on the clock. The Crew took advantage of the added time and evened the score at 95 minutes thanks to Darlington Nagbe.
As I mentioned before, the Red Bulls won their prior two road games. First, they defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 3-1. Then, they crushed Toronto FC 4-1. Individually, Lewis Morgan has had a great start to the season after scoring three goals. Him and Patryk Klimala are one of the most dangerous duos in the league.
The Red Bulls are getting used to pulling off online gambling upsets when playing away from home. They were also underdogs against San Jose and Toronto. Next Saturday won’t be the exception as they’re offering a +315 price.

New England Revolution vs New York Red Bulls Prediction
All players on international duty will be back on time for the game, so you can expect both to go all-in.
New England is stronger at home, no doubt about it. Last season, the Revolution only lost two games at Gillette Stadium, four months passed between both defeats. This season they already lost one and not even a month has passed.
I’m certain that the visitors will put up a good fight, though. Enough for me to recommend you include the over in your soccer picks.
Score Prediction: New England Revolution 2, New York Red Bulls 1
