Ronaldo, Portugal Heavily Favored vs Czech Republic at Euro 2024

Stop arguing about who’s better between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Enjoy both of them because their journey is coming to an end. In fact, the 2024 edition of the UEFA Euro is expected to be Ronaldo’s last dance with Portugal, at least in a major tournament. Luckily for him, the Navigators are heavily favored in the soccer odds to win Group F and fight for the title.

Portugal’s first match will be against the Czech Republic, a team that hasn’t beat them since 1996. No wonder Ronaldo and company are -204 to win straight up. Let’s check the best way to approach this matchup.

Portugal has Talent to Spare Beyond CR7

Yes, at 39, Ronaldo remains Portugal’s best striker. Prior to the start of the UEFA Euro, the Navigators faced Ireland in a friendly match and CR7 led the way to a 3-0 victory with a brace.

Portugal’s depth is unbelievable. Believe it or not, the following players didn’t start against Ireland: Ruben Dias, Diogo Jota, Bernardo Silva, Joao Palinha, Goncalo Ramos and Ruben Neves. Some of them didn’t play at all and they still won 3-0!

Besides Ronaldo, the attacking unit includes Joao Felix, who also scored against Ireland, and Rafael Leao, who’s considered one of the best wingers in the game. In fact, PSG is trying to sign Leao to take Kylian Mbappe’s place.

Regardless of the result, the Navigators scored in nine of their last 10 games. They managed to score three or more goals in six of those games. In other words, make sure to take the over (-155) when it comes to Portugal’s total, which is set at 1½ goals.

As if that weren’t enough, we’re also talking about a very good defensive team since Dias is considered one of the best, if not the best, center-back in Europe. There’s also Pepe, who’s extremely experienced. Pepe is like Ronaldo but on the other half of the field. Summing up, we’re talking about a well-balanced squad that totally deserves a spot in your soccer picks, even at -206.

Portugal vs Czech Republic Betting Tips

  • Portugal won the last meeting between the two 4-0.
  • A match between these two has never ended with a draw.
  • Both scored in one of their previous five meetings.
  • The total has gone over 2½ goals in two of their last five encounters.
  • Average number of goals in meetings between these two is 2.4.
  • Czech Republic is unbeaten in its last seven games in all competitions.
  • Portugal scored in four of its last five games in all competitions.

Patrik Schick is Ready to Challenge Ronaldo

The Czech Republic is +554 in the sportsbook to win straight up. They also are +550 to win Group F while Portugal is -260 and Turkey is +400. In other words, the White and Reds have nothing to lose!

As if that weren’t enough, the Czechs also won prior to the start of the continental tournament, which means you can expect them to be highly motivated. They defeated North Macedonia 2-1 thanks to a goal in stoppage time scored by Antonin Barak.

Patrik Schick scored the opener. I’m telling you, make sure to keep an eye on Schick, who recently won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. He also contributed for the Black and Reds to win the DFB Pokal and to reach the UEFA Europa League final. Schick scored 13 goals in all competitions.

I don’t expect the Czech Republic to pull off the stunner against Portugal, but I do expect the White and Reds to score. Schick is +400 to finish with 1+ goals. Make sure to include him in your soccer parlays because he’s also in charge of taking penalties.

Match Verdict: Portugal to Win

Regarding the match, I like Portugal to win 3-1. Besides having talent to spare, the Navigators are now led by head coach Roberto Martinez. He coached Belgium from 2016 to 2022, which means Martinez knows every single opponent extremely well. Plus, he led the Red Devils to third place in the 2018 World Cup and to the quarterfinals of the 2020 UEFA Euro.

The Navigators have it all to make Ronaldo’s last dance a very good one.
