Not Much Time Left
There are only two games left for the end of the MLS regular season. Well, three in the case of the San Jose Earthquakes and the Los Angeles Galaxy, which is why they’re playing this weekend.
The Earthquakes will be playing for honor as they no longer have a chance to qualify for the playoffs. As for the Galaxy, Javier Chicharito Hernandez and company still depend only on themselves to qualify, but they simply can’t afford to lose.
Los Angeles dominates the soccer lines, but San Jose recently drew against one of the best teams in the Western Conference. In other words, it could be a closer battle than many expect.
San Jose Earthquakes: Better at Home
Yes, it has been a disastrous season for the San Jose Earthquakes, but they’ve shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, especially when playing at home. Plus, they’ve nothing to lose, having been eliminated from playoff contention.
Most recently, they drew 1-1 to FC Dallas at home. They came from behind thanks to Jeremy Ebobisse, who scored the equalizer from the penalty spot. Drawing to the third seed is a good result. Plus, they managed to contain Jesus Ferreira, one of the league’s top scorers with 18 goals.
Prior to that, still speaking about home games, they defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps (2-0) and Los Angeles FC (2-1). The Whitecaps still have a chance to qualify while LAFC will finish atop the Western Conference.
Summing up, we’re talking about a team that has had a bit of bad luck, but one that definitely has what it takes to pull off a stunner occasionally. That’s why they could be considered a tempting online gambling underdog, especially playing at home, and offering a +170 price.
Los Angeles Galaxy: The Real Puig
The Los Angeles Galaxy signed Spanish midfielder Riqui Puig to help them get back to the postseason. Well, after a rocky start to his MLS journey, we’re finally seeing the rea Puig, who at Barcelona came to be considered the heir to Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.
Last Saturday, the Galaxy had no mercy on the Colorado Rapids and crushed them 4-1. Puig assisted three of the four goals, becoming the first Galaxy player to record three assists in a single match since Landon Donovan in 2014. Overall, he has recorded five assists.
That result allowed the Galaxy to take over seventh place, which is the last to grant a ticket for the postseason. It also allowed them to put an end to a four-match winless run. In other words, they regain a lot of confidence at the right time.
Being the betting online favorites at +120 also increases their confidence. Defeating San Jose would allow them to climb to sixth place. That should be motivation enough to go all-in right from the start.

San Jose Earthquakes vs Los Angeles Galaxy Prediction
The San Jose Earthquakes will play without any pressure, which will allow them to put up a good fight. However, the Los Angeles Galaxy looked very smooth against the Colorado Rapids, who are way better than the Earthquakes. I expect both to score, as Chicharito and Ebobisse are on fire, but the visitors at +120 is too good a deal not to include it in your soccer picks.
Score Prediction: Los Angeles Galaxy 2, San Jose Earthquakes 1
