Let’s check the latest Liga MX news, stats, injury reports, and Liga MX odds for San Luis vs Pumas UNAM. We’ve plenty of Liga MX picks and predictions for you to consider.
Atletico San Luis: Struggling to Score
Despite being equal on points with Thursday’s opponents, Atletico San Luis played two more games than Pumas and they will probably not make the cut for reclassification. With just one win in nine games, they are sitting 14th in the standings and they even failed to beat bottom-place Queretaro last time out. They have the second-worst attack in the league with just six goals scored.
Back in February, San Luis surprised its fans by announcing that coach Andre Soares Jardine will become the club’s new technical director for the Clausura 2022 tournament, after the dismissal of Uruguayan Marcelo Mendez Russo on Matchday 3 of the competition. The 42-year-old Brazilian has extensive experience in charge of the lower categories of Sport Club Internacional and Gremio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense in his native Brazil, in addition to being the champion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the Brazil Under-20 national team.
However, the Brazilian coach finished 10th in Clausura 2022 and is not expected to have better performances in Apertura. That’s why we will not include Atletico San Luis in our soccer picks and parlays.
Pumas UNAM: Out of Form
Pumas UNAM has played six matches in the new season, which is already on its ninth matchday. With one win and five draws, they sit in the 10th spot and have the option to qualify for reclassification. They finished 11th in the 2021-22 Apertura and hope to hit a higher position this term. But their dire form is cause for concern as the San Luis clash looms.
Pumas’ poor form was underlined less than two weeks ago in their 6-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy. However, that does not mean they are dead and gone. They have 10 matches to play and can return to form against San Luis.
Pumas is seeking the continuity of some experienced players so they kept their core this summer, but Andres Lillini is eager to consolidate his project and use more young players in the starting lineup. They added experienced Dani Alves to their squad but the former Barcelona right-back is yet to impress. The 39-year-old is preparing for his third World Cup but, given his performance for his new club, he might stay home and watch Brazil on the telly.
Pumas UNAM has won only once in their last eight games across all competitions, and if you’re betting online, you should avoid backing them.
San Luis vs Pumas UNAM Head-to-Head
After losing three games in a row, San Luis managed to win their previous two head-to-heads with Pumas, scoring at least twice in each game and keeping one clean sheet in the process. This season, the two teams are the kings of draw games, recording five each in nine and seven fixtures, respectively. We’ve seen at least three goals scored in four of the last six mutual encounters across all competitions, but just one game finished with both teams finding the back of the net.

San Luis vs Pumas UNAM Predictions
The hosts enter this clash as slight favorites being priced at +140 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds while the goal line is set at 2½.
We expect a close encounter between two sides who are struggling at the moment. Both will be looking to add three more points to their season tally, but they will definitely end up canceling each other. In terms of goals, the under is the way to go, but the price has no value for our betting needs. Instead, we are going with the draw.
