In 2022, the Colorado Rapids won one of their 19 road matches in all competitions. They finished with eight points and 42 goals conceded. They tied the San Jose Earthquakes for the worst marks on the road in last MLS season. The Earthquakes finished dead last in the Western Conference.
They’re better than that, I can assure you. First, as mentioned before, they’ll be led by an inspired Diego Rubio, who set a club record in 2022 with 23 goal contributions. He scored 16 goals, the most scored in a single season in Rapids history.
Second, they signed center-back Andreas Maxso, left-back Alex Gersbach and center-midfielder Connor Ronan. All of them are expected to revitalize a defensive unit that last season allowed 57 goals. Only San Jose allowed more with 69. In other words, the front office did a good job during the offseason.
The Rapids finished the preseason 2-1-1. Most recently, they lost 4-1 to the Philadelphia Union, which is why they’re offering a +330 price to win straight up. That’s a tempting deal to include in your MLS picks since a $100 wager could turn into a $430 payout.
