Prior to the start of the season, the Seattle Sounders were among the betting online favorites to dethrone New York City FC as MLS kings. Seattle’s struggled more than expected. In fact, if the season ended today, they wouldn’t make the playoffs. an ignominious first in the history of the franchise.
That’s why it’s more than fair to say that FC Dallas, fourth in the West, is quite tempting an an +310 underdog Tuesday. There’s also the fact that the Red and Blue are led by one of the top scorers in the league.

Sounders Are Better Homebodies
So \last Friday, the Seattle Sounders lost, 2-1, to Los Angeles FC. That was their 11th defeat (seventh on the road) through 22 games this season. Good news is that they’ve been considerably better playing at home, securing nine more points than on the road.
Playing at Lumen Field has a special impact on certain players. Jordan Morris, for example, scored 23 of his last 30 goals at home, seven of his last eight. The last home game, a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids, Morris scored.
Morris is also the team’s top goal scorer with six. Expect him to be highly motivated in this one. Nicolas Lodeiro is another to watch. The Uruguayan has scored four goals, leading the team in assists with six.
There is more good news. Kelyn Rowe does return after missing the clash against LAFC (suspension). Raul Ruidiaz could return from injury, the international Peruvian out since early last month. Despite missing the last three, Ruidiaz is second on the club with five goals.
As was previously mentioned, the Sounders dominate the soccer lines at a -120 price. Considering a victory vaults them all the way into fifth place, if that does not motivate, nothing will motivate.
FC Dallas: Well-Balanced
First of all, FC Dallas is starting to build a non-losing streak. After losing to New York City FC 1-0, they’re 2-1-0, with three goals for and only one against. Most recently, they defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0.
Second of all, we’re talking about a very well-balanced team. Offensively, the Red and Blue are led by Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola. Ferreira is among the league’s top scorers with 12 goals, while Arriola has scored nine. Ferreira also leads the team in assists, alongside Alan Velasco, with five.
Defensively, the Red and Blue have allowed just 25 goals in 23 games, good for second in the Western Conference. Considering the defensive unit is led by former Defender of the Year Matt Hedges, that shouldn’t be a surprise. There’s also goalkeeper Maarten Paes, who has registered six clean sheets this season.
“Defensively in these two games keeping the shutout was key while also creating scoring opportunities. We will continue like this going forward, this is the type of mentality playoff caliber teams have,” coach Nico Estevez said.
Their record on the road isn’t the best, at 3-5. They lost one of their last five matches away from home. They defeated Real Salt Lake, 1-0, and tied, 2-2, with second-place Austin FC.
The last time they played as the underdogs (+300) they managed a 1-0 win.
