Neither La Liga nor Serie A has finished, but it’s time for Sevilla and AS Roma to focus on rewriting history by winning the UEFA Europa League. If the Spanish side wins, it would be its seventh UEL title. If the Italian side wins, it will become the first team to win two different UEFA competitions back-to-back. Sevilla is slightly favored in the Europa League odds since it has never lost to the Wolves.
No Other Option
Sevilla has had a terrible season in La Liga. It has no other option than winning the UEL if it wants to play one of the two major UEFA competitions next season. Otherwise, the club could only aspire to play in the Conference League, for which it would need a highly unlikely mix of results in the last fixture of La Liga.
On Saturday, Sevilla lost 2-1 to Real Madrid. Several usual starters didn’t play or played limited minutes, meaning they’ll be at 100% for Wednesday’s clash. The list includes Lucas Ocampos, Youseff En-Nesyri, Loic Bade and Oliver Torres.
En-Nesyri is expected to have a huge role in the final. He’s the team’s top scorer in the competition with four goals. One of those goals was in the semifinals against Juventus, which the Spanish side ended up winning 3-2 on aggregate. He has also scored eight goals in La Liga.
Sevilla also eliminated PSV, Fenerbahce and Manchester United on its road to the final, scoring at least two goals in five of its previous eight matches. That’s basically why Sevilla comes in as the Europa League betting favorite at +175.
In addition, Sevilla has never lost when it comes to the UEL final. In fact, no other team has won more UEL titles than Los Blanquirrojos with six.
Mourinho Leads the Way
This will be the ninth European final for manager Jose Mourinho, who already won the UEL in the 2016-17 season when Manchester United defeated Ajax in the final.
Last season, he led AS Roma to its first major title in years after winning the first edition of the UEFA Conference League.
Unlike Sevilla, AS Roma had to play in the UEL group stage, finishing second in Group C, six points behind Real Betis. Later, it eliminated RB Salzburg, Real Sociedad, Feyenoord and Bayer Leverkusen, losing the first leg against RB Salzburg and Feyenoord.
Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala are the main reasons to consider including AS Roma in your Europa League picks, especially at +185. Each has scored four goals in the tournament and didn’t play last weekend.

Overall, Sevilla is 9-5-5 against teams from Italy, while AS Roma is 15-10-27 against teams from Spain. The last time Sevilla reached the final, it defeated another team from Serie A: Inter Milan.
