Sevilla Looks to Bounce Back at Home
After kicking off the new season with a disappointing loss at Osasuna, Sevilla will be looking for all three points when Real Valladolid visit the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in La Liga action on Friday.
The visitors were also beaten in game one. Los Rojiblancos, who finished fourth last term, are not an easy nut to crack on their own patch.
Sevilla: Rocky Start
Sevilla had a fine 2021-22 La Liga season under the popular Julen Lopetegui, finishing behind Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to take a UEFA Champions League place.
They racked up an impressive 70 points after 18 wins, 16 draws and just four defeats. No club in Spain’s top tier suffered fewer losses last term.
Sevilla’s 2022-23 campaign got off to the worst possible start, however, as they were surprisingly beaten by Osasuna. The hosts took an early lead, though Los Rojiblancos leveled right after. However, with 15 minutes to play, Aimar Oroz scored from the spot to give Osasuna the points.
After opening up the new campaign with a loss on the road, Sevilla will be desperate to take maximum points in front of their home supporters on Friday. As you would expect, the side from Seville are the odds-on favorites with the bookies to secure a home win.
Two Losses On Spin For Real Valladolid?
Real Valladolid are back in the top tier of Spanish soccer after finishing runners-up in the Segunda Division last term. They may be most people’s soccer picks for an instant return, but Pacheta’s troops will have other ideas and will be desperate to prove the doubters wrong.
Real Valladolid’s top-flight return did not quite go to plan, as the White and Violets crashed to a heavy 3-0 home loss to Villarreal. Pacheta’s side struggled to get going at Estadio Jose Zorrilla, and all three of Villarreal’s goals came in the second period.
Valladolid will be hoping to bounce back from the opening-round reverse with a positive result on Friday. Last term’s Segunda Division runners-up head to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as the big underdogs, but can they spring a surprise in Seville?
Sevilla vs Valladolid Head-to-Head
These two clubs most recently met in the 2020-21 La Liga season, with both matches ending in 1-1 draws. In fact, the last three Sevilla vs. Real Valladolid meetings have all finished a goal apiece.
The last winner of this one was Sevilla back in November 2019, with an Ever Banega penalty giving Sevillistas a 1-0 away success. Sevilla are undefeated against Real Valladolid in nine (four wins, five draws).

Sevilla vs Valladolid Prediction
Looking at the latest sports betting online odds, Sevilla are the favorite in this home match. They were tough to beat at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last term, with just champions Real Madrid leaving their patch with all three points in the league. Overall, Los Rojiblancos lost only two home matches across all competitions.
Real Valladolid have their work cut out this season. Survival is the main aim for all promoted clubs, and Valladolid’s ambition will be no different.
Last week’s home loss was a rude awakening for Placheta and his team, and Friday’s fixture will no doubt be an even tougher assignment.
Sevilla should respond from last weekend’s loss with a comfortable win on their own patch this Friday. If you are going to Bet on soccer at BetUS, and my tip for this fixture is the home win -1.0 Asian Handicap
