Real Madrid is getting away! Los Blancos recently beat Sevilla and Athletic Club to increase their advantage at the top to seven points. Sevilla fell to fourth place, eight points behind, that’s why they can’t afford to lose.
On the other hand, Villarreal only won one of its last five games. Losing again would leave them closer to the relegation zone than to the top 10.
Sevilla is offering a -105 price, but having Gerard Moreno back makes Villarreal a very tempting soccer betting underdog.

Villarreal Deserves Better
Soccer enthusiasts tend to forget quickly, but Villarreal won the UEFA Europa League less than six months ago. I’m not saying that’s enough for you to include them in your betting online ticket, but they deserve some respect.
Losing to Barcelona in the last fixture made them fall to twelfth place, but they’re better than that. Even Barcelona’s head coach Xavi Hernandez said it: “Villarreal didn’t deserve to lose. This is the game in which we dominated the least.”
Barcelona scored two goals in the last six minutes. Prior to that Villarreal had plenty of options in front of the goal but no luck. That’s why having Gerard Moreno back is huge. He has scored only one goal, but you can blame the injury bug. Last season he scored 23.
Moreno got some minutes and scored one goal in Villarreal’s midweek Copa del Rey crushing victory. They beat Victoria CF 8-0 to advance to the second round. I know Victoria CF cannot be compared to Sevilla, but at least they regained some confidence.
The Yellow Submarine hasn’t won on the road (0-5-2), but they managed to draw against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Like now, they were underdogs in both games. That’s not easy, not even Barcelona could do it.
Villarreal predicted lineup: Geronimo Rulli; Juan Foyth, Raul Albiol, Pau Torres, Alfonso Pedraza; Yeremi Pino, Dani Parejo, Etienne Capoue, Moi Gomez; Manu Trigueros, Gerard Moreno.
Sevilla on the Hunt
Sevilla also deserves respect. They’ve been putting up a good fight against the powerhouses for years, including this one. They currently sit in fourth place with 28 points thanks to an 8-4-2 record. A victory could boost them to second place if Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad don’t win.
Last week, they went to Santiago Bernabeu and fought bravely against Real Madrid. They even finished with more shots on target but lost 2-1 due to a magnificent goal from Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian scored with three minutes left on the clock.
Defensively, we’re talking about one of the best teams in the league. Sevilla has allowed 11 goals, sharing first place in that regard with Real Sociedad and Athletic Club. Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos have become one of the best center-back duos in the continent. Kounde could be on the move during the next transfer window. Chelsea is very interested.
Sevilla’s sports betting value increases when playing at home. They remain unbeaten thanks to a 5-1-0 record. That’s not all, they also have scored two or more goals in each match.
Youssef En-Nesyri is out due to injury, but Rafa Mir is doing a great job replacing him. He scored in two of their last three games. The rest of the team is ready to go. They also played midweek in the Copa del Rey, but most of the starters got some rest. Even so, they beat Cordoba 1-0.
Sevilla predicted lineup: Yassine Bounou; Gonzalo Montiel, Jules Kounde, Diego Carlos, Marcos Acuna; Joan Jordan, Fernando Reges, Ivan Rakitic; Lucas Ocampos, Alejandro Gomez, Rafa Mir.

Villarreal vs Sevilla Prediction
Villarreal has been more focused on the UEFA Champions League, but they need to start turning things around in La Liga. With Gerard Moreno back, they’ll definitely put up a good fight. Nevertheless, it isn’t common for Sevilla two lose two games in a row, especially playing at home.
Both will score in a close victory for Sevilla, that’s why our football prediction is the home side total going over.
Score Prediction: Sevilla 2, Villarreal 1
Pick: Sevilla Over 1½ at +130
