Second-place Sevilla travels to play Alaves in the Spanish top-flight league, Napoli will try to secure Serie A’s leading spot against AC Milan while Dortmund has a tough task on the road against Mainz. Our sportsbook is offering a great range of markets and props for the top European soccer leagues.
Alaves vs Sevilla (La Liga Round 27)
Sevilla won a feisty derby against Real Betis 2-1 on Sunday to reduce the gap to six points behind Real Madrid in La Liga. Two mistakes from Betis goalkeeper Claudio Bravo proved decisive at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Julen Lopetegui was without the suspended Jules Kounde and Lucas Ocampos while Erik Lamela, Anthony Martial, Karim Rekik and Suso were all injured. Many of them will be ready to face Alaves next weekend just before their Europa League clash against West Ham.
Despite playing on the road, Sevilla enters this game as -110 favorites on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds. Sevilla has dominated the recent head-to-head record between the two sides, having won five of their last eight mutual encounters. The other three ended in draws, including 2-2 from the reverse match. Sevilla has the best defense in the league, having only conceded 0.7 goals per game so far.
Regardless of the result here, Alaves will remain in the relegation zone but they still badly need points, having won just one game since early November (eight defeats and five draws). Four points adrift of safety, they could take some solace from being only one point worse off than they were after 26 games last season in which they finished four points above the drop zone.
We expect an intense match with the host in desperate need for points and with Sevilla rock-solid at the back, having most of their key players back in the starting XI.
Pick: Sevilla (-110)
Napoli vs AC Milan (La Liga Round 28)
Napoli is finally leading the Serie A standings after beating Lazio and taking advantage of AC Milan and Inter Milan’s poor run of form. They have the best defense in the league with just 19 goals allowed in 27 games. They recorded their last domestic league defeat just before Christmas.
Luciano Spalletti will focus his efforts on keeping the away team off the scoreboard in order to build a clear path to victory in this game and secure their leading position. Napoli won the last two mutual encounters between the teams, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
Naples is a city with a very special footballing heritage. After the death of the Argentine star, Naples paid tribute to Diego Maradona by putting his image on the shirt and naming the stadium after him, and it seems that his influence is still being felt today.
Spalletti’s team usually plays in a 4-2-3-1 system, which builds the game from a wide and deep position. His two open center-backs are the players who start the game with the ball, receiving support from two midfielders. The striker fixes the center-backs in their own half and the wingers take advantage of the width to be a constant threat to the opponents’ defense. It looks like this system is bringing the expected results and Napoli has a great chance to win the Serie A title.
Napoli is out of the Europa League being knocked out by Barcelona and their main focus is their domestic league. AC Milan has the attacking tools to put a dent in Napoli’s Scudetto aspirations this weekend, but the value is on the home side. That’s why we will include them in our soccer picks and parlays. The visitors dropped four points in the last two games, being kept to draw games by Salernitana and Udinese.
Pick: Napoli +110
Mainz vs. Dortmund (Bundesliga Round 25)
Mainz is one of the surprise packages of the season. They are sitting ninth in the standings with 34 points picked up in 24 games, six points being the European spots. They are one of the best home teams in the league with eight wins and just one defeat recorded in 12 games in which they scored 24 goals.
On the other side, the injury gods have not allowed Dortmund to give their best this season. They are out of the Europa League action after being knocked out by Rangers and they are trailing leaders Bayern Munich by eight points. If you’re betting online you should know that Dortmund can’t keep clean sheets. They’ve conceded 37 goals in 24 games, with 19 on them coming on the road.
Dortmund managed to beat Mainz 3-1 on home soil in the reverse match and once again we expect at least three goals on the scoresheet. The line is beautifully set at 2½ and we will definitely take that.
