Spain Faces Poland in Crucial Euros Match

Loser Could Fall to Bottom of Group E

Before the start of the EURO 2020, predictions included Spain vs Poland as the game to define the winner of Group E, but now we’re in a totally different scenario. Of course, both sides still need the victory, but to keep their chances to advance into the second round alive.

I look forward to a show led by Gerard Moreno, Koke, Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski. Let’s take a look at the latest team and player news, stats, injury reports and the Euro 2020 Odds for Spain vs Poland while making some predictions.

Spain and Poland last met in 2010, with Spain romping 6-0, but none of the scorers remain on the team. In fact, the only player who’s playing the EURO 2020 and was part of that victory is Sergio Busquets.

“La Roja” won their last three meetings in a row with an 11-1 aggregate, finishing with a clean sheet the last two times they met. Spain has scored in every single match against Poland, including their only loss (2-1) in 1980.

Why Bet on Spain?

Luis Enrique’s first test with a younger team failed. Spain debuted with a goalless draw against Sweden and now need some help in order to fulfill the unanimous sports betting prediction of them finishing at the top of the group.

“We faced a team who decided to defend and base all their hopes on a long ball forward. Even so, they had the chance to win. A draw like this feels bad and I’m sorry for the players and the fans because this was a night to win. Our preoccupation is to create goal chances and we did that but we didn’t tuck them away,” said Spain’s head coach after the game.

Spain is 8-3-0 overall, including the Euros qualifying round, 5-1-0 at home, 3-3 against the spread and 3-2-1 over/under. Precisely, playing at home increases Spain’s value, but it’s no guarantee of a victory.

Playing in Seville also suits Spain very well, where they’re 39-5-4. Still, expect some changes in the starting lineup because Enrique wants to give an opportunity to all the players, and he should, because he desperately needs a new leader both on and off the field. Gerard Moreno should play from the start in order to compete with Robert Lewandowski. Moreno (Villarreal) finished the La Liga season with 23 goals.

Busquets remains questionable after recovering from COVID-19, but the rest of the team is ready to go. Their expected lineup is Unai Simon, Marcos Llorente, Aymeric Laporte, Pau Torres, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago, Rodri, Koke, Ferran Torres, Mikel Oyarzabal and Alvaro Morata.

Why Bet on Poland?

Well, after losing 2-1 to Slovakia in the opener, Poland has to win against Spain in order to keep hope alive. Against Slovakia, they not only lost the match but also Grzegorz Krychowiak, who saw a red card with 28 minutes left on the clock.

“The idea was to be the protagonist with the ball and create chances, and we did that. We could do better, yes. We need to be better and show more courage, especially in our back line,” said head coach Paulo Sousa after the game.

Poland has a very well-balanced team, including Wojciech Szczesny in goal and Lewandowski commanding the offensive unit. Lewandowski comes from a historic season after scoring 41 goals with Bayern Munich.

Poland is 8-1-2 overall, including the qualifiers, 4-0-1 on the road, 4-1 against the spread and 1-2-2 over/under. Expect them to play more on the counterattack, because Spain is used to winning possession, but all Lewandowski needs is one good chance in front of goal.

Besides Krychowiak, the rest of the team is ready to go. Their expected lineup is Wojciech Szczesny, Bartosz Bereszynski, Kamil Glik, Jan Bednarek, Kamil Jozwiak, Jakub Moder, Maciej Rybus, Mateusz Klich, Karol Linetty, Piotr Zielinski and Robert Lewandowski.

Final Analysis, Predictions

Expect a back-and-forth game, with Spain trying to score an early goal to control the pressure while Poland will try to take advantage of Spain’s lack of experience on defense. Both teams will score, but I expect Spain to take advantage of being more rested by not having to deal with traveling.

Don’t forget to check out the Props for Spain vs Poland to increase your winning chances, including time of first goal, team to score last, first goal scorer and many more. I think both will go all-in from the start, which is why I expect the first goal to be between 11-20 minutes, which is offering a +350 price.

Score Prediction: Spain 2, Poland 1
