Spain: Struggling at the back
There has been criticism of Luis Enrique’s side following their two draws in the last week against Portugal and the Czech Republic. The team has been weak defensively while not capitalizing on their chances created. They finally bounced back by beating Switzerland 1-0 on the road but without impressing. After three group fixtures, Spain are sitting second with five points earned and they are trailing leaders Portugal by two points.
La Roja’s heroics in the early 2010s guaranteed them a permanent name on the scene of international football. They lost their identity in recent years but they now have Enrique, who is here to deliver and create a technically skilled pressing machine able to break blocks down by suffocation. Under a healthy mix of younger players like Eric Garcia, Ferran Torres, Pedri and Gavi combined with experienced players like Laporte, Cesar Azpilicueta, Sergio Busquets or Jordi Alba, Enrique is trying to find the right balance just before the World Cup, and he’s using the Nations League campaign as a test.
Gavi became the youngest player to ever debut for La Roja at the age of 17 years, 62 days in October 2021. Despite having played top-flight football for just two seasons, Pedri has become a vital member of both Spain and Barcelona’s starting lineup.
Spain were held to a 2-2 draw last week in the reverse fixture, with Inigo Martinez securing one point for La Roja after scoring a last-minute equalizer. Spain are now playing in front of their fans and they are huge favorites to win this clash so we will include them in our soccer picks and parlays.
Czech Republic: Ups and Downs
We cashed another great bet in a game involving the Czech Republic. We predicted that Portugal will cover the spread and we took them with -1½ at +125 against the Czechs. We are ready to extend our winning streak by fading the visitors.
After earning four points with a victory against Switzerland and a draw against Spain, the Czechs showed their limits on the road against Portugal, losing 2-0 and recording just one shot on target. Missing star striker Patrick Schick is no doubt a huge blow for the visitors, who are struggling for goals.
After three games, they are sitting third in the standings with four points and a negative goal difference. They failed to keep a clean sheet on each occasion and we don’t expect them to keep Spain at bay on Sunday in Malaga.
Their season remains on course for success though, given that coach Jaroslav Silhavy suggested that avoiding the drop is their main objective following their promotion last season. Another slow start could kill any chance of Czech success, as the side scoring first has gone on to win all of the Czech Republic’s Nations League-away fixtures. Czech Republic star Tomas Soucek has scored the team opener in six of his last seven scoring appearances. so if you’re betting online and you love your props, he is the player to watch for the visitors.

Spain vs Czech Republic Predictions
The hosts enter this clash as heavy favorites at -305 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds while the goal line is set at three.
We are expecting a fast start from Spain with La Roja eager to solve the three points from the first half. Four of the Czech Republic’s five internationals during the 2022 season produced at least two first-half goals. The Czechs were beating Spain and earned a draw in the end, so Enrique will definitely not leave the same spaces for the Czechs to find the back of the net. They’ve already shown Spain that they can be dangerous on the break, so we expect them to contribute on the scoresheet.
Spain should have enough to cover the spread but given their defensive struggle, that bet is a bit risky. That’s why we will skip the winners’ market and back the overs for our official pick.
