Sides Clash in Nations League A Action

Unbeaten Record at Stake for Spain

Spain is one of three teams that remain unbeaten in the UEFA Nations League A. Nevertheless, La Roja only has a one-point advantage over Portugal atop Group 2. On the other hand, Switzerland is fighting to avoid relegation. Losing could condemn them to League B.

As expected, the home side is heavily favored in the sportsbook thanks to a -220 price, but the Red Crosses are highly motivated after pulling off a stunner in the last fixture.

Let’s check the latest UEFA Nations League A picks, stats, injury reports, and UEFA Nations League A odds for Spain vs Switzerland. We’ve plenty of UEFA Nations League A predictions for you to consider.

Spain: Depending on Themselves

Besides being the soccer betting favorites, Spain will have the advantage of playing while knowing they depend only on themselves to qualify for the semifinals. Even if they lose against Switzerland, defeating Portugal in the last fixture would be enough to do so.

That means they’ll face the Red Crosses without pressure, which makes them an even more dangerous side.

As mentioned before, Spain remains undefeated. After drawing 1-1 to Portugal and 2-2 to the Czech Republic in its first two games, La Roja defeated Switzerland 1-0 and the Czech Republic 2-0.

Pablo Sarabia was the Most Valuable Player in both victories, which allows me to emphasize that Spain has talent to spare, especially when it comes to the offense. Besides Sarabia, there are Alvaro Morata, Pedri, Ansu Fati, Borja Iglesias, Carlos Soler, Ferran Torres, Nico Williams, Marco Asensio and Yeremi Pino. That’s the definition of heavy artillery.

Here’s another reason to trust in Spain as your soccer pick, La Roja only lost one of its last 20 home games. As if that wasn’t enough, they finished with a clean sheet in 14 of those games.

Switzerland: New Sheriff in Town

Unlike Spain, Switzerland doesn’t have talent to spare, but that doesn’t mean the Red Crosses aren’t a good team. Plus, they’ve a new sheriff in town that’s highly motivated. We’re talking about Noah Okafor, who plays for RB Salzburg and is having a great start to the season. He has scored four goals in the Austrian Bundesliga and two more in the UEFA Champions League.

Okafor will be leading the attacking unit alongside Haris Seferovic, who scored the goal to beat Portugal in the last fixture. That’s right, the Red Crosses pulled off a stunner against Cristiano Ronaldo and company in June. They lost possession and took less shots on target but were more effective in front of goal.

Switzerland lost its two previous games on the road, 2-1 against the Czech Republic and 4-0 against Portugal. Okafor scored the goal against the Czech Republic, and they ended up losing due to an own-goal. They never stood a chance in Portugal as they were down 2-0 at 35 minutes.

That’s basically why they’re offering a +650 price, which is a very tempting price as a $100 wager could turn into a $750 payout.

As mentioned before, the first leg between these two was in June at Stade de Geneve. Spain dominated the game completely and won 1-0 thanks to Sarabia, who scored only 13 minutes into the game. La Roja also won 1-0 the last time they collided in Spain.

Switzerland’s lone victory over Spain was on neutral ground. The Red Crosses defeated La Roja 1-0 during the Group Stage of the 2010 World Cup.

Spain vs Switzerland Prediction

Okafor isn’t the only one who’s having a great start to the season. Borja Iglesias, who plays for Real Betis, has scored six goals in La Liga. Only Robert Lewandowski from Barcelona has scored more with eight. These are the last two games prior to the 2022 WC, meaning he has to take advantage of this huge opportunity. He’s not a regular on head coach Luis Enrique’s call-ups.

I expect Spain to go all-in right from the start and Iglesias to shine, which is why my betting online recommendation is to go with the over. Switzerland will contribute as well.

Score Prediction: Spain 2, Switzerland 1
