Stability vs. Change: Fiorentina Meets Revamped Olympiacos

One year after losing to West Ham in the Europa Conference League Final, Fiorentina has a golden opportunity to win their first trophy in 23 years.

While Fiorentina (+132) is playing in their third final in two years, Olympiacos (+214) is in uncharted territory and looking to become the first Greek team to win a European trophy.

Underdog Alert? Olympiacos Aims to Shock Fiorentina in UECL Final

The last time a Greek team played a European final, the Rolling Stones’ Brown Sugar was top of the Billboard charts and Richard Nixon was president of the United States. 53 years after Panathinaikos’ defeat to Ajax, Olympiacos has the chance to become the first Greek side to win a European trophy.

While Fiorentina has had the same manager – Vincenzo Italiano – since the summer of 2021, Olympiacos has gone through eight different managers since the summer of 2022. Jose Luis Mendilibar, who led Sevilla to last year’s Europa League title, took charge of the Greek side in February and has injected new life into their season. All signs point to a competitive, even-keeled fixture in Athens – the first two Europa Conference League finals would see Roma and West Ham win by one-goal margins, and there’s reason to believe that this match will follow the pattern.

Neither team is particularly accustomed to keeping clean sheets – Olympiacos’ goal has been breached in 13 of their last 16 matches, while Fiorentina has not tasted a clean sheet since April 21 in a 2-0 win vs. last-placed Salernitana. Indeed, Fiorentina has seen over 2.5 goals in seven of their last eight matches, making the Over (+110) a tasty addition to our parlay bets.

El Kaabi, BTTS & Goals Galore My UECL Picks

One particular difference, however, is the manner of the goals. Fiorentina’s goals have been spread out throughout the team – there isn’t one attacking talisman, but rather, a collection of talented individuals capable of stepping up.

As for Olympiacos, despite only entering the Europa Conference League in February, they boast the top scorer in the competition in Ayoub El Kaabi with 10 goals. After scoring five goals in the semifinals vs. Aston Villa, expect the Moroccan forward to bring the heat in Athens and deliver yet another attacking masterclass. We’re backing both teams to score, goals galore in Athens, and El Kaabi to continue his red-hot form in our Europa Conference League picks.

Best Bets: Over 2.5 goals (+110), Both teams to score (-110)
