Manchester City has been an unstoppable winning machine in the English Premier League since mid-October when they last lost to Crystal Palace. The Citizens now travel to play Southampton looking for their 13th consecutive league win while Mo Salah-less Liverpool travels to play Crystal Palace on Sunday. Our sportsbook is offering a great range of markets and props for the European soccer leagues.
Southampton vs. Man City: Lucky Number 13
We cashed part of our Premier League parlay last weekend with Aston Villa and Manchester United scoring four goals between them, easily covering our Over 2½ goals in the match, but Liverpool decided to destroy Brentford 3-0 so our Under three goals in the match got a push.
Pep Guardiola’s side completed the league double over Chelsea last weekend with Kevin De Bruyne scoring the only goal of the match in the second half. It was City’s 12th consecutive league win in a row. The leaders are sitting 11 points clear at the top of the table after just 22 rounds. They have the second-best attack with 54 goals scored and the best defense with just 13 goals allowed.
They travel to play Southampton on Saturday and they enter this clash as heavy favorites at -365 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds. They failed to beat the Saints in the reverse match, a goalless draw. That was only the third match of the season in which they failed to find the back of the net.
Manchester City took a major step toward retaining their Premier League title with another display of their controlled possession football. There was a big surprise in City’s starting lineup with Guardiola leaving central defender Ruben Dias on the bench, but the Portuguese center back is expected to come back in the starting XI against Southampton.
It’s hard to imagine what could go wrong at City and lose the title after this impressive run. Yes, Liverpool has a game in hand on them and also the direct match and they could close the gap to five points, but Man City is not losing points against the other opponents. Injuries can strike and as well as Covid, but the thing about this squad is that it’s genuinely hard to figure out whose absence would seriously derail the team. That’s why we love including them in our soccer picks and parlays. They are so consistent and if they want to put five goals against their opponents, they will do it.
Pick: Manchester City -1½ goals (-135)
Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool: Shaky on Road
Liverpool continued their strong home form as they comfortably beat Brentford 3-0 despite missing their two best players in Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, who are still out on international duty. The win sees Liverpool leapfrog Chelsea into second place, with a game in hand. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp promised that his side will go for everything in their pursuit of runaway leaders Manchester City. They need a miracle to catch the Citizens, but that doesn’t mean they won’t fight till the end.
This is the last match before the international break and the Reds will be determined to maintain the pressure on the leaders with another crucial win. They won the reverse match 3-0 on home soil and they have an amazing record against Palace winning their previous 10 mutual encounters across all competitions. On top of that, they kept four clean sheets in their last four head-to-heads against the Eagles, scoring 16 goals. They will still be without Salah and Mane, but Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are in good shape and we expect them to deliver. Ox gives so much to the team when needed because of the variety with which he can play. He can play as number eight, he can play on the nine, he can play on the wing and no matter the position he’s playing, he’s always adding a lot of quality.
We’re going with a free hit here. Why free hit? Because we expect Liverpool to win the game, but they are priced too short for our needs (-180 on the moneyline). Instead, we’re taking the -1, which means that in case of a short win (one goal difference), we get a push. If you’re betting online, always look for these free hits. If the price is too short on the team you want to bet on, go for the -1 but never for -½ because that’s a dangerous move.
