Manchester City Way Overpriced

RB Leipzig Looks to Topple Group Winners in Champions League

Manchester City travels to play RB Leipzig on Tuesday while Group D bottom-placed Shakhtar Donets will be eager to win its first match of the Champions League group stage at home against Sheriff Tiraspol. Our sportsbook is offering a great number of props for the most important European competition.

RB Leipzig vs. Manchester City: Visitors Overpriced

Jesse Marsch was relieved of his duties as RB Leipzig manager on Sunday following a loss to Union Berlin, with Achim Beierlorzer taking over the reins in the interim. Marsch joined at the start of the season to replace Bayern Munich-bound Julian Nagelsmann and led his team to only five wins in 14 league games. Last season’s Bundesliga runners-up is now sitting 11th in the German top-flight league, trailing leaders Bayern Munich by 16 points.

They will now face Manchester City on Tuesday and they are priced at +250 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds. They got trashed in the reverse match, losing 6-3 on the road. They are fighting Club Brugge for a top-three finish, which will earn them a Europa League knockout stage spot.

They will be without Yussuf Poulsen, who is still struggling with a calf problem. He joins Dani Olmo, Marcel Halstenberg and Marcelo Saracchi on the sidelines, while Willi Orban and Hugo Novoa are still self-isolating.

On the other side, Manchester City enters this fixture on the back of seven wins in a row across all competitions. They leapfrogged Chelsea in the Premier League, taking advantage of their 3-2 defeat to West Ham, and despite sitting first in the Champions League standings, we don’t expect them to take their foot off the gas against the German opponents.

They have a brilliant record against German teams, being unbeaten in their last 14 games against German opposition and winning 13. Pep Guardiola will probably rest some of his key players but, given RB Leipzig’s identity crisis and bad form, the Citizens should return home with the three points.

Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne have all returned to fitness to boost Guardiola’s options in the attack so we should probably see at least two of them in the starting XI. Ferran Torres is City’s only confirmed injury absentee for the trip to RB Leipzig.

The visitors will finish first regardless of Tuesday’s result, but the Premier League powerhouse are way too strong for RB Leipzig, which is a club in turmoil. The Citizens are a very consistent team and that’s why we’re always looking to add them to our soccer picks and parlays if the value is with them.

Pick: Manchester City -105

Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Sheriff Tiraspol: Easy Home Win

How many times do you want us to tell you that it’s time to start fading Sheriff Tiraspol? Yes, they were the revelation of the Group Stage and pulled off a huge upset in beating Real Madrid on the road but, as expected and predicted, they lost three consecutive games with their opponents covering the -1½-goal spread on all three occasions. In the reverse match, they beat Shakhtar 2-0 on home soil, which was another big surprise given the difference in quality and the lack of experience at this level.

No matter what happens on Tuesday, they will finish third in the standings and play in Europa League knockout stages, a great achievement for such a small club. On the other side, Shakhtar is winless in the competition and its point in the competition came from a goalless draw against Inter Milan in September.

They are the league leaders in their domestic competition but have failed to replicate their form in the Champions League, scoring just one goal in five matches. They will be eager to end a disappointing campaign on a positive note.

Normally, if you’re betting online, Shakhtar is not a team to be backed in the European competition but for the match the value is with them. They should win this game and score at least two goals on their own.

Pick: Shakhtar Donetsk -1 (-115)
