Olympiacos vs Fiorentina Odds and Spreads

Fiorentina to Score First

Olympiacos’ official nickname is Erythroleykoi (Red-Whites), but it might as well be the Rubber Band Men given their ability to bounce back. Since the start of February, Olympiacos have gone into halftime trailing on eight separate occasions.

They’ve had to erase a 4-1 first-leg deficit against Maccabi Tel Aviv, and they’ve had to dig deep and demonstrate their resilience on several occasions under Jose Luis Mendilibar. Their most recent fixture would see them trail 2-0 at Panathinaikos at the hour-mark, only to end up securing a draw away from home.

As for Fiorentina, they’ve entered halftime with the lead in each of their last two matches, and they should be able to get off to an early start and take advantage in the first half. We’re backing La Viola to score first in our betting picks.

Both Teams to Score in Athens (-120)

Fiorentina have not been held scoreless since April 11. They’ve managed to pin teams back and impose themselves with a possession-heavy, attack-minded style of play. They don’t have any top-notch goal scorers (their top league scorer is Nicolas Gonzalez with 11 goals), but their defensive woes remain their Achilles heel. Having occupied the top four midway through the Serie A season, Vincenzo Italiano’s side will end the campaign in eighth place regardless of what happens in their final league match vs. Atalanta.

They are particularly vulnerable when it comes to defending crosses and set-pieces, and it has resulted in a lack of cohesiveness at the back. Indeed, whilst Fiorentina are likely to open the scoring, keeping Olympiacos from scoring will be easier said than done. Each of Fiorentina’s last eight matches have seen both teams score, and at -120, this prop bet is like taking candy from a baby. We’re backing both teams to find the back of the net in Greece.

El Kaabi, Gonzalez Leading the Charge

At 30 years of age, Ayoub El Kaabi is playing in a UEFA competition for the first time in his career, and he has made the most of his first season at Olympiacos. Despite only entering the Europa Conference League in February, the Moroccan striker is guaranteed to come away with the Golden Boot award after claiming an astonishing 10 goals. Fiorentina’s top scorer (Lucas Beltran) has only scored four in the competition.

In total, El Kaabi has scored 32 goals and three assists in all competitions this season, and after grabbing five goals in the semifinals against Aston Villa, the odds are in his favor as he looks to continue his red-hot form. Despite this, El Kaabi Anytime Scorer is only valued at +225 in the Las Vegas sportsbooks. We’re taking those numbers any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

In contrast to Olympiacos, there isn’t one attacking superstar who’s banging in the goals. It’s very much a collection of talented individuals who take turns chipping in. However, if there’s one player who’s capable of leading the line and coming up with a big performance for Fiorentina, it’s Nicolas Gonzalez.

A big-game player, last year saw Gonzalez score a brace in the semifinals before grabbing an assist in the Europa Conference League Final, whilst he also opened the scoring in the Coppa Italia Final. The Argentine has continued to go from strength to strength with four goals and one assist in his last six appearances, and there’s reason to believe that this trend will continue in Athens. We’re backing Gonzalez to get a goal contribution in the final.

Goals Galore for Fiorentina and Olympiacos

To wrap up this parlay bet, we’re going to pick the Over at -115. Seven of Fiorentina’s last eight matches have featured 3+ goals, and whilst they may not be able to keep out Olympiacos’ stalwart attacking threat, they should be more than capable of pushing the Greek side back and delivering an attacking masterclass. After falling to West Ham in last year’s final, Fiorentina are out for revenge, and they should be capable of producing yet another high-scoring affair.
