Unbeaten in their first two games of the season, Union Berlin will be eager to pull off the upset at home against RB Leipzig. Our sportsbook is offering the best markets and bonuses for the German Bundesliga.
Union Berlin: European Side
Don’t get us wrong, but Union Berlin shouldn’t be this good. They are overachievers and their manager is to “blame.” Urs Fischer has everything to do with their remarkable play. Last season, they finished fifth in the standings, just one point behind the Champions League spots.
Fischer coached Switzerland’s top clubs, including FC Basel, where he claimed both the Swiss Cup and the Super League before heading to Union Berlin in 2018. In four years with Union Berlin, he promoted the team to the top tier and qualified for the European cups for two seasons in a row. Fischer’s organized defense is Union’s backbone.
They have no right to even finish in the top half of the table, yet here they are. Union is again European bound and the best team in the capital by a long shot. They destroyed their city rivals in the season opener, beating Hertha Berlin 3-1 on home soil. Last weekend, they were held to a goalless draw on the road by Mainz.
Back-to-back European qualifications have raised expectations for Union Berlin, and Fischer will perhaps be disappointed his team could not provide more threat. Still, they remain unbeaten in all competitions this season and can take plenty of positives from their strong defensive performance. We will continue to include them in our Soccer picks and parlays.
RB Leipzig: World-Class Attacking Duo
Timo Werner scored on his Bundesliga return and Christopher Nkunku got another, but the 10 men of RB Leipzig were held to a 2-2 draw by Cologne after a Josko Gvardiol own goal. Why 10? Because Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai got red-carded at the end of the first half. That’s Leipzig’s second draw in a row after losing 5-3 to Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup.
Werner got his 79th Bundesliga goal in 128 appearances for Leipzig. No other player has more than 40 for the club in the top flight. Szoboszlai received the first red card of his senior career and the first for a Leipzig player in the Bundesliga since Dayot Upamecano against Paderborn in 2020. Nkunku has been involved in four of Leipzig’s six competitive goals this season and is the second top scorer in Bundesliga in 2022 after Robert Lewandowski.
Werner has readjusted to life in the Bundesliga because it took him just 36 minutes to get back on the scoresheet for Leipzig. He and Nkunku will end this season as one of the best attacking duos in the European top-flight leagues. Unfortunately, Andre Silva will clean the bench from now because there’s no way he will start and leave Werner on the bench. Leipzig is struggling at the back and they will continue to struggle, but they will score goals so if you’re betting online, the over is the way to go when betting on RB Leipzig.

Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig Predictions
Despite playing on the road and struggling for points, the visitors enter this clash as favorites at +110 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds while the goal-line is set at 2½.
Union Berlin is way overpriced and we expect them to pick up at least one point here. They should have enough to cover the +½ spread and extend their unbeaten run. It’s a tough game for both sides and RB Leipzig shouldn’t underestimate their opponents. They will definitely try to avenge last season’s double defeat but Union is a force to be reckoned with. Let’s skip the moneyline and focus on the goals market. The two teams are always offering entertaining clashes full of goals and that should repeat on Saturday.
