U.S. Men Face Desperate Foe
After some extremely intense World Cup Qualifiers, the United States national team hoped to relax a bit. Well, that’s not going to be possible, at least not if the Stars and Stripes want to revalidate the CONCACAF Nations League title.
Gregg Berhalter’s team will debut in the 2022-23 edition against Grenada on Friday night. As expected, they dominate the soccer odds by a huge margin, but the Spice Boys come in a must-win situation. Otherwise, they’ll be relegated to League B.
Team USA: Fully Loaded
Yes, this will be USA’s first game in the CONCACAF Nations League, but the team recently played two friendly matches at home. First, they defeated Morocco 3-0 with goals from Brenden Aaronson, Timothy Weah and Haji Wright. Later, they drew 0-0 to Uruguay.
Berhalter doesn’t want to take any risks and that’s why he called up most of the usual starters, including Christian Pulisic, Tyler Adams, Yunus Musah and Weston McKennie. This team has talent to spare. The crazy part is that the latest starting 11 averaged 24 years of age.
As if that wasn’t enough, all of them are highly motivated after qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. Let’s not forget that the U.S. team didn’t qualify for the 2018 edition.
Playing at home has a lot to do with Team USA being a huge betting online favorite (-1000). The Stars and Stripes haven’t lost in their last 25 games at home. In their last official match, they crushed Panama 5-1. On the other hand, they couldn’t win any of their last five games on the road.
The coaching staff have no major injury concerns. Even so, after this game, Team USA will visit El Salvador on Tuesday. Therefore, you can expect Berhalter to make some changes.
Grenada Needs to Win ASAP
Besides the fact that losing would condemn them to last place, the Spice Boys enter the match on a 10-game winless streak. They last posted a victory against the U.S. Virgin Islands, 1-0 at home on March 30.
Regarding the CNL, they already faced El Salvador twice. They put up a good fight in San Salvador but ended up losing 3-1. The home side opened the can only two minutes into the game, but the visitors evened things up two minutes later. El Salvador regained control two minutes prior to the end of the first half and sealed the deal with its own goal in the second.
Grenada almost won the rematch but finished 2-2. Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong and Jamal Charles scored for the Spice Boys, while Alexander Larin and Cristian Hurtado did it for El Salvador. Hurtado scored with only two minutes left in the game.
The Spice Boys are offering a +4000 price in the sportsbook to defeat USA. If you wager $100 on them and they pull off the miracle, your payout would be $4100.

United States vs Grenada Prediction
Grenada proved to be a feisty team, but the Spice Boys aren’t ready to defeat one of CONCACAF powerhouses. In fact, we expect the Stars and Stripes to win comfortably. We don’t expect the total to go over as Berhalter will probably rest starters once the advantage is considerable. Therefore, our soccer prediction is the match total under 5½ goals.
Score Prediction: Team USA 4 , Grenada 1
