Uruguay Back to Winning Ways

Stick to Goals Totals for South American Qualifiers Parlay

Uruguay aims to build on its 1-0 win over Paraguay when it hosts Venezuela on Tuesday while Argentina welcomes Colombia in what promises to be a high-scoring affair. Our sportsbook is offering a great range of markets and props for the World Cup qualifying card.

Uruguay vs. Venezuela: Goals at Premium

Former Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Uruguay national team striker Diego Alonso has more than a decade of experience as a manager of top-flight clubs in Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico and the United States. He replaced Oscar Tabarez, who was sacked back in November after 15 years on the job. The decision came after four defeats in a row that left Uruguay seventh in their group with small chances to earn a direct qualification spot to the World Cup in Qatar.

The top four qualify automatically for the finals and the fifth-placed side goes into an inter-continental playoff. Alonso did well to win on his debut, beating Paraguay 1-0, Uruguay is sitting fifth in the standings with three games to go till the end of the qualifying campaign. They enter this clash as heavy favorites at -325 on the three-way Moneyline according to the latest soccer odds. Uruguay is only one point outside the top four, with their three final qualifiers coming at home to Venezuela and Peru and away to Chile. A win against Venezuela might see them leapfrog Peru in the table as La Blanquirroja take on Ecuador on Tuesday.

Team Handicap Moneyline Total Team Total
Uruguay -1½ -105 -325 2½ -105o 1½ -160o
1½ +130u
Venezuela +1½ -125 +1000 2½ -125u ½ +125o
½ -155u
Draw +400

The hosts have lost just twice at home during this campaign with the two defeats coming against Brazil and Argentina, who are leading the standings. Meanwhile, Venezuela is sitting dead last, having scored the least number of goals and conceded the most. Uruguay has kept three clean sheets in its previous three mutual encounters against Venezuela.

Luis Suarez’s winner against Paraguay marked only the second goal Uruguay scored in its last six qualifying games, averaging one per game with 15 strikes from 15 matches so far. The win against Paraguay was crucial but not impressive. They played a smart game, scoring early in the second half without forcing a second one. A short win is all they need, and Venezuela scored just two goals in seven away games, losing all of them.

If you’re betting online, you should always search for the best bet. Most of the cappers will go with Uruguay to cover the spread but why: to have a push in case of a short win and not go for the full win? The goal-line is set at 2½, and we don’t expect three goals in this match. If you’re brave enough to go with a correct score, 2-0 for Uruguay should be a winner.

Pick: Under 2½ goals (-125)

Argentina vs. Colombia: Entertaining Game

Colombia will attempt to breathe some life into their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign when they travel to already-qualified Argentina on Tuesday. They need a little miracle to book their World Cup tickets but it will be a disaster if they don’t qualify. Unfortunately, they can’t find the back of the net despite having a great attacking line, but will look to capitalize on Argentina’s depleted backline. Los Cafeteros are currently sixth in the group, two points behind Uruguay in the playoff race and three behind Peru for the final automatic qualification spot. They have a strong squad at their disposal, but they need to find their spark in the final third.

A significantly depleted Argentina defense offers Colombia a prime opportunity to finally contribute on the scoreboard. Let’s not forget that the visitors have far more on the line than suspension-hit Argentina, which already booked its World Cup tickets. Still, Messi-less Argentina possesses a world-class attacking talent that should easily find the back of the net.

Team Handicap Moneyline Total Team Total
Argentina -½ -110 -110 2 -125o 1½ +125o
1½ -155u
Colombia +½ -120 +350 2 -105u ½ -135o
½ +105u
Draw +220

Yes, we love to include Argentina in our soccer picks and parlays but why risk them at -110 when they have so many problems at the back and they are already qualified. We’ve seen at least two goals in three of the last four mutual encounters between the two sides and once again the line is set at two goals.

Pick: Over 2 goals (-125)
