Villarreal: Poor Domestic Season

Villarreal is in danger of slipping back into bad, old habits as they enter this clash on a bit of a slide down the table with points dropped in games they’d have expected to win. With just 12 points to their name, they are sitting ninth in the standings.

Unai Emery is still missing his most important player with Gerard Moreno in doubt to make it in time for the World Cup. The Yellows’ star man missed more than half of the La Liga season through injury the last term, and it seems his injury issues are continuing. Even without him, Villarreal has plenty of other options in attacking areas and needs to find some solutions fast.

They suffered a defeat to a likely rival for European qualification last weekend and it could have been much worse than the short loss to Real Sociedad. On a brighter note, they managed to beat Austria Vienna on Thursday which ensures they have won their Conference League group with two games to spare but that competition is not a priority at this stage and they have been rotating heavily in it.

Villarreal will be without the services of Francis Coquelin until the start of November due to a calf problem while Juan Foyth remains a major doubt for the home side. We can’t trust Villarreal this term so we won’t include them in our soccer picks and parlays.

Osasuna: Winless in 3 Games

Osasuna has seen their form dip off after a great start to the domestic campaign. They won four of their opening five games but are without a win in three since. Home defeats against Getafe and Valencia suggest talk of a possible European push may be a bit premature but there was an excellent draw at Real Madrid in the middle of those two games.

They are now sitting eighth in the standings with 13 points picked up in eight games, just one point above Monday’s opponents, Villarreal. Osasuna is a well-drilled team and Villarreal won’t find it easy to contribute on the scoresheet. The visitors will look to the likes of Chimy Avila and if fit Ez Abde for a bit of inspiration in the final third. They do offer something a bit different and are capable of producing a moment of quality to potentially further Villarreal’s woes.

Osasuna has found it hard to score, netting just nine in their eight games, suggesting that Monday’s fixture could be a low-scoring affair, so if you’re betting online just avoid the ML and go for the goals’ market. The visitors have finished 10th, 11th, and 10th in their last three campaigns and we expect the same this season. Unai Garcia and Ruben Pena will both miss out through suspension, as the two players received red cards during the clash with Valencia last time out.

Villarreal vs Osasuna Head-to-Head

Osasuna has the upper hand on the head-to-head games between the sides as they managed to win the last three games against Villarreal. The hosts are winless on home soil this term picking up four points in two games. They have the second-best defense in the league with just three goals allowed in eight games while Osasuna has kept just two clean sheets this term. We’ve seen at least three goals with both teams scoring in eight of the last nine mutual encounters between the two sides.

Villarreal vs Osasuna Betting Lines

Villarreal vs Osasuna Prediction

The hosts enter this clash as heavy favorites being priced at -180 on the three-way Moneyline according to the latest soccer odds while the goal line is set at 2½

This game will of course be at a different venue with the Ceramica still undergoing redevelopment work so the fans will not play an important role here. Osasuna will certainly be the fresher of the two sides on Monday and we expect them to play their chance. Given their suspension issues, they will probably fight for the draw and have a defensive approach. Who scores first, wins the game.
