Wolverhampton vs Arsenal Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds, Picks & Predictions

Wolverhampton and Arsenal had a rocky start to the season, but both managed to turn things around. They’ll collide on Thursday with sixth place in the English Premier League on the line. Both aim to break into the top five to qualify for a UEFA competition. Winning this game would be a huge step toward that goal.

Despite not having lost in their last five games, the Wolves come in as the betting online underdogs at +260. Don’t get me wrong, Arsenal is a great team, but also very inconsistent. That’s why I’m confident it’s going to be a great battle.

Wolverhampton vs Arsenal

Wolves on Fire

Brighton, Manchester City and Wolverhampton. Those are the three EPL teams that haven’t lost in its last five games. The difference is that the Wolves’ streak includes a draw with Chelsea and a win over Manchester United. I told you, we’re talking about one of the most tempting soccer betting underdogs for the EPL Fixture 24.

Most recently, they went to Brentford and won 2-1. Believe it or not, they only made two shots on target. I guess that’s all it takes when you have an effective attacking unit. Hwang Hee-Chan and Raul Jimenez co-lead the team’s scoring chart with four goals each.

Precisely, that’s one of Wolverhampton’s keys to success, not depending on a single player when it comes to scoring. Conor Coady, Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho have scored two goals each.

Adama Traore no longer plays for the Wolves after recently signing for FC Barcelona. He was a good substitute, but the Wolves have talent to spare. To be honest, I think that was a panic move by Barcelona.

Curiously enough, Wolverhampton has been getting better results when playing on the road. That simply must change, at least if they want to remain in the race for a ticket to the UEL. Beating direct rivals is crucial, starting with the Gunners. Plus, they have no excuses after getting eliminated from the FA Cup. Finishing in the EPL top five is all they’ve left.

No major injuries to report here. Wolverhampton’s predicted lineup: Jose Sa; Max Kilman, Conor Coady, Romain Saiss; Nelson Semedo, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Fernando Marcal; Daniel Podence, Raul Jimenez, Francisco Trincao.

Arsenal Losing the Pace

As I mentioned before, the Gunners overcame a rocky start to climb up to the EPL top four. However, they couldn’t win any of their last two games, making them fall to sixth place, one point behind West Ham United.

Their last match finished with a goalless draw. The thing is that it was against Burnley, the team sitting in last place. The Gunners can’t afford such a result, at least not if they want to be taken seriously.

Here’s another reason why they can’t afford such a result. Their roster is incredibly talented. So talented that head coach Mikel Arteta decided to discard Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who recently signed for FC Barcelona. That’s right, Barca went to England for some shopping.

With Aubameyang out, expect Alexandre Lacazette to become the starting striker. Plus, Emile Smith-Rowe will have more responsibilities. He’s the team’s top scorer with eight goals, but now will have to concentrate on creating more second chances.

The Gunners will have Mohamed Elneny back after the midfielder finished playing in the African Cup with Egypt. I don’t expect him to start, but the more options on the bench the merrier. Having a deep, talented roster is the main reason for the Gunners to control the Las Vegas odds at +120. To be honest, I’m not sure they deserve it, but I’m sure they’ll put up a good fight.

Arsenal’s predicted lineup: Aaron Ramsdale; Rob Holding, Ben White, Calum Chambers, Kieran Tierney; Albert Lokonga, Granit Xhaka, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli; Alexandre Lacazette.

Wolverhampton vs Arsenal Head to Head

  • Previous Matches: 118
  • Wolverhampton Victories: 32 (172 goals)
  • Arsenal Victories: 58 (224 goals)
  • Draws: 28

They met for the last time in the 2020-21 season and Wolverhampton won 2-1 at Molineux Stadium. Arsenal started winning with a goal from Nicolas Pepe, but the home side turned things around in the second half. Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho were the scorers. Keep in mind that the Gunners finished the game with nine players due to two red cards.

Overall, we’re talking about a very even series. The Gunners own a 4-3-3 record in their last 10 meetings. Plus, they didn’t fail to score in any of those games.

Wolverhampton vs Arsenal Prediction

For me, Wolverhampton is already the surprise of the season. Last year, they finished in 13th place and now they’re fighting to qualify for a UEFA competition. With Raul Jimenez back after representing Mexico in the World Cup qualifiers, they will be a more dangerous, effective team. Enough to beat the Gunners in order to remain in the UEL race. It’s now or never for them and momentum is on their side.

Arsenal won’t go down easily, though, that’s why my football prediction also includes the total going over.

Score Prediction: Wolverhampton 2, Arsenal 1

Pick: Wolverhampton (+260)
