The Allianz Arena is not an easy place to win points no matter the competition, but Benfica will try to pull off the upset and return home with at least one point. Our sportsbook is offering great odds on the goals market.
Bayern Munich: Fire at Will
Bayern Munich lost 5-0 to Mönchengladbach in the DFB Cup last Wednesday and we all knew that Union Berlin would suffer at the weekend. And they did, with Bayern winning 5-2 and securing its leading position. Robert Lewandowski scored twice and has now 41 goals scored across all competitions.
After missing out last season due to its cancellation, ‘Lewangoalski’ should receive the Ballon d’Or in December because he’s by far the best striker in Europe and he’s very consistent. Bayern is unstoppable, is packed with world-class players all over the pitch and can easily form two amazing teams if it needs to play a second string.
At home you simply can’t beat them. They won nine of their previous UCL home games, and this is the third season in a row with Bayern winning its opening three fixtures. They scored 12 goals and kept three clean sheets so far and they are eager to book their knockout stage tickets after just four games.
They are huge favorites to win this clash being prized at -600 on the three-way moneyline with the best soccer odds, so there’s no value there.
Two weeks ago, they won the reverse match in Portugal by scoring four goals after the break. They created 22 goal attempts and had eight shots on target. Their record in the head-to-head games against Benfica is great. They played five times, winning on four occasions, while one game ended in a draw.
Leon Goretzka is doubtful while Lucas Hernandez has been sidelined with a knee problem, but both of them will be assessed on Tuesday before the game. We expect a strong starting XI from the hosts and an amazing atmosphere in the stands.
Julian Nagelsmann and Co. will be eager to get qualification wrapped up on Tuesday and start rotating his team because the season is long and having fresh legs in every single game is a must for such a team.
What’s important to note is that Bayern’s defense has not been at its best this season and even some weak opponents managed to find the back of the net when playing against them.
Benfica: Injury Crisis
Benfica’s main objective is to qualify in the knockout stages and that might happen given the circumstances. But not with a win here… They are still sitting second after three games, beating Barcelona and winning a point from their clash against Dynamo Kyiv.
The Portuguese giants are in poor shape. They enter this game on the back of just two wins in their previous six games across all competitions, so we don’t recommend you use them in your soccer picks and parlays.
They also have big injury issues. Andre Almeida remains out with a muscle problem while Gil Dias and Valentino Lazaro continue to recuperate from injuries. Haris Seferovic and Rodrigo Pinho are also ruled out. Roman Yaremchuk is fit and ready to replace Seferovic in the attacking line, but the Ukrainian striker is struggling to find the back of the net and he scored just one goal in his last seven games across all competitions.
Bayern Munich vs Benfica Betting Picks
If you’re betting online, you should always expect high-scoring games when Bayern Munich is involved. Their attack is unstoppable, they are very creative and have great pace on the wings. In their last four domestic league and Champions League matches, they scored at least four goals in each match. At home, they scored at least three goals in five of their six encounters and at least four in four of them.
Benfica has kept just two clean sheets in nine matches across all competitions. Bayern should and will cover. The line is not that big, just -2½, priced at -125. This is our banker of the day in Champions League but we also like the over 3½ goals in the game priced at -125.
