David Moyes saved West Ham from relegation before qualifying for Europe in the next three years and masterminding their Europa Conference League triumph in 2023, but he has parted ways with the East London club, with Julen Lopetegui being appointed as his successor.

As for Liverpool, they have entrusted Arne Slot with the task of following in the footsteps of the legendary Jürgen Klopp, with the Dutchman arriving after an impressive chapter at Feyenoord that saw him end a six-year title drought and reach a Europa Conference League title. With Klopp departing Liverpool, Mikel Arteta has become the third-longest-serving manager in England’s top division after Thomas Frank and Pep Guardiola. Since taking charge in December 2019, the Spaniard has been able to inject new life into Arsenal and make them a serious contender for the championship. Arsenal led the table for 248 days in 2022-23, the most in English top-flight history without winning the title, whilst they were able to make a concerted effort for the highest honor in English football the following year.

The Gunners dropped points just twice in 2024 – a 0-0 draw to Manchester City and a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa – but it wasn’t enough as City claimed their fourth consecutive league title. They managed to finish second for the second-straight season, whilst they also made a strong impression in their first Champions League campaign in six years, topping their group and edging Porto on penalties before losing to Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

If Arsenal is to put an end to their 21-year title drought and prevent City from winning the Premier League for the seventh time in eight years, they need to ramp up their squad with summer transfers, and it seems that their first signing could be Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. Last season marked the first time in 26 years that all three promoted sides suffered relegation, with Burnley, Sheffield United, and Luton Town unable to stave off the drop in their returns to the top flight. Southampton has been just as busy, bolstering the squad with veterans like Adam Lallana and young talents like Yukinari Sugawara, and they have retained center back Taylor Harwood-Bellis for €23 million.

As for Leicester, however, they have been handicapped in the transfer window after being hit with a transfer embargo for alleged profit and sustainability rule breaches, and they will be counting on the Premier League experience of Steve Cooper as they look to avoid dropping down to the second tier.
