Prop Bets: Goals Galore for Both Sides at the San Siro

AC Milan are limping towards the finish line under Stefano Pioli and find themselves in second place in Serie A, 19 points behind Inter Milan. Despite boasting the second-best attack in Italy (73 goals scored) behind Inter (87), the Rossoneri have been handicapped due to a leaky backline that has let in 46 goals this season. Only Napoli (48) have let in more amongst Serie A’s top 11 sides.

Milan have scored 3+ goals on four separate occasions in the league since the start of April, and yet, they’ve found victories increasingly hard to come by. Apart from a 0-0 draw at Juventus, Milan have kept just one clean sheet in their last 11 – a 3-0 win vs 10-man Lecce.

After missing out on the Scudetto to Napoli and Inter over the past two years, it appears that the goodwill accumulated from Milan’s 2021-22 league title – their first in 11 years – has evaporated into thin air, and changes are afoot. They have announced that they will part ways with veteran leaders Olivier Giroud and Simon Kjaer, and Pioli looks set to become the latest casualty.

Salernitana Bound for Serie B

Salernitana, on the other hand, have been aware of their fate for the past month: They will play in Serie B next season. Their time in the big leagues has come to a bitter end after a season that has seen them employ twice as many managers (4) as the amount of victories (2) they’ve claimed.

Whilst they may have a tough time picking up their third Serie A victory of the campaign, they should be able to close out their season with at least one goal against a Milan side that has looked far from watertight in recent weeks. Salernitana have scored in each of their last three matches, giving Atalanta an early scare in a 2-1 loss at home, holding Juventus to a 1-1 draw and losing 2-1 to Hellas Verona.

They have managed to pose a threat to Italy’s biggest teams this season, scoring 2+ goals vs Roma, Lazio and Milan this season. They’re playing with house money at the moment, and they’ll be looking to take risks and lay siege to the hosts in what could be their final Serie A match in quite a long time.

Six of Milan’s last seven matches have seen both teams find the back of the net, and there’s no reason to believe that pattern won’t continue at the San Siro. We’re backing both teams to score in our Serie A betting picks.
