Championship Week Predictions
It’s Championship week in the world of college basketball, and it should be an exciting week of hoops. Even though the NCAA Tournament gets much of the hype and attention when the calendar flips to March, most college students care about their conference tournament just as much. With that in mind, let’s take a look at four of the most prolific conference tournaments and make some Championship Week Predictions for how they will play out.
Florida State (1), Virginia (2), Louisville (3), Duke (4) are the top seeded teams in the 2020 ACC Tournament, and these are the four teams with a realistic shot of winning the title. This was definitely a down year for much of the ACC, but these four teams are all loaded and ready to make a deep run in March. It’s hard to really get a feel for which teams have the upper hand this weekend, because all of the teams split games during the regular season. Florida State probably has the most talent, but Duke has some amazing freshness. Louisville has been great this season as well, but the pick in this tournament is the Virginia Cavaliers.
If the Big 10 Conference Tournament plays out like the regular season race did, then the fans in Indianapolis could be in for a wild weekend. The Wisconsin Badgers will be the top seed this weekend after winning a share of the Big Ten regular season conference. Michigan State and Maryland will be the number two and three seeds respectively, and that could provide a huge showdown in the semifinals. The reason that this tournament could be the best of the weekend is because there are legitimately 10 teams that could win the title. The Big Ten Conference will be well represented in the NCAA Tournament, and this is going to be a battle. Michigan State finished the regular season on a roll, and it should continue this weekend.Take the Michigan State Spartans to win the Big 10 Tournament in Indianapolis.
The Baylor Bears looked like the class of the Big 12 Conference for much of the season, but the Kansas Jayhawks just won their 15th Big 12 title in 16 seasons. Kansas has been the class of the conference, and they look like the best team in the country this season. There is a chance that a team like Baylor or West Virginia could go on a run and challenge the Jayhawks, but it’s just hard to see that happening this weekend.Pick the Kansas Jayhawks to win the Big 12 Conference Tournament this week.
This has not been a banner season for the Southeastern Conference, but they do have some terrific teams at the top. The first two days of the SEC Tournament will likely feature little drama or excitement, but things should heat up in the quarterfinals. Top-seeded Kentucky and second-seeded Auburn appear to be on a collision course to meet in the title game, and that would make for a thriller on Sunday. Both teams could be a Final Four contender this season, but Kentucky just feels like the better team.
If you are doing any sports betting online, we recommend picking the Kentucky Wildcats to win the SEC Conference Tournament over the Auburn Tigers.
