Golf legends Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson return to the green to play for bragging rights and raise funds to help provide COVID-19 support. This will be a rematch of last 2018’s match, a pay-per-view heads-up event that saw Phil Mickelson get the upper hand when the match went to extra holes.
This year, the golf pair of golf studs have help. Joining Team Woods will be future NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning is a 2x Super Bowl-winning champion with five NFL MVPs to his name. Manning won a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos.
Peyton Manning has never before played golf professionally, however, like many professional athletes, he’s an avid amateur golfer. Manning’s return to sports will be against a familiar opponent, a man he’s been compared to his entire career: Tom Brady.
Brady, who signed a two-year $50 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this year, will be teaming up with Phil Mickelson. Brady is a 6x Super Bowl champion and a 3x NFL MVP.
The event still does not have a date or a confirmed venue, however, all four parties are ready, willing, and eager to hit the green.
Unlike the 2018 match between Phil and Tiger, this year’s event will be televised exclusively on TNT. Woods/Manning are currently a -200 favorite. Mickelson/Brady are sitting pretty at +175.
The last time Tom Brady faced Peyton Manning, the Sheriff’s Broncos knocked Brady’s Patriots out of the 2016 AFC Championship game.
The event is expected to take place in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis has seemed eager to keep sports and entertainment alive in the state. He declared the WWE an essential business and gave the green light for the UFC to hold three events in seven days in Jacksonville. DeSantis, speaking more like a media promoter than a governor, was quoted saying the following on April 15: “I’d like to see Woods and Mickelson do the golf, or whatever because that’s the social distance,”. “You wouldn’t have a gallery there. You wouldn’t have crowds. But to put that on TV, I think people have been starved for content.”
The PGA Tour still needs to sign off on the event since Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are players on their roster.
Whenever the event happens, BetUS is ready to partake in the action. Early lines are up in the sportsbook right now. As more information is announced, visit the sportsbook for more prop online betting and futures.
