Northern Trust Open Rundown
The Northern Trust Open is the start of the three-week FedExCup Playoffs and has the 125 top-ranked golfers vying to be one of 70 that will advance to the BMW Championship next week. There are four players recommended worth wagering on at the odds for win, top five, top 10, golf matchups, and DFS betting.
TPC Boston is the golf course they are playing in the tournament that runs Thursday-Sunday. It is the same one played in the Dell Technologies/Deutsche Bank Championship, which was the fourth event in the FedExCup Playoffs before they switched the venue to three events.
Rory McIlroy +1200
This is a time to stick with veterans like McIlroy, who have won multiple events that are majors or big events that bring the same pressure and competition as the The Northern Trust Open and FedExCup Playoffs. He started this PGA season with seven finishes in a row in the top five but may not seem to be like the same player now, with a tie for 11th place his best finish since the restart.
Lose that thought because you can never discount McIlroy, especially at The Northern Trust. You may have forgotten he is the defending FedExCup Playoffs Champion. Add to that the fact that he has victories at this golf course, TPC Boston, in 2012 and 2016 and the correct conclusion is that McIlroy is definitely not a guy to fade here.
Daniel Berger +3000
Berger has been one of the most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour with a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge and four other top-five finishes in the last seven events played. He also tied for 13th in this year’s first major, the PGA Championship two weeks ago.
The season stats show him 12th in strokes gained tee-to-green, 14th in strokes gained putting and an impressive fourth in total strokes gained. Berger is a great play in multiple golf bets and should be in the running for top results when the weekend comes.
Tiger Woods +2500
Mr. Woods is going to be a player it doesn’t appear a many will use in their golf betting or Daily Fantasy play at Draft Kings and Fan Duel. Tiger is one of those golfers that you can’t count out even if he hasn’t proven he has his form back.
He has been there and done it, and at The Northern Trust Open Golf Odds of +4000 at BetUS, makes for a mighty enticing play for at least something.
Tony Finau +2500
It seems like Finau has won a PGA event as much as he has been hovering around the lead in multiple tournaments this year. He has three top-10 finishes in the last four PGA tournaments he has played, and that includes a tie for fourth place in the PGA Championship.
He has also had success at TPC Boston in the past with a tie for fourth place at this course in 2018. You should be able to at least use him in Top five and 10, in matchups and at Draft Kings or Fan Duel in your Daily Fantasy betting lineups.
