Golfing great Tiger Woods has suffered multiple leg injuries in a crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.
The 15-time Major winner was traveling alone having spent the weekend serving as host for the Genesis Invitational, where he appeared in good spirits about his return to the PGA Tour.
The 45-year-old is currently in surgery for his injuries. His car rolled on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes. The jaws of life were used to extract Woods from his vehicle.
Reports state, “injuries are not life-threatening. Believed to have multiple leg fractures.”
Update
Woods is out of surgery “awake, responsive, and recovering in his hospital room,” according to a statement on the golfer’s Twitter account.
Dr. Anish Mahajan of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said Woods had multiple “open fractures” to his lower right leg, had a rod placed in his tibia, and had screws and pins inserted in his foot and ankle during emergency surgery.

LASD Lomita Station is currently investigating the crash, with details to be released at a later stage.

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support,” Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg said in a statement.
A helicopter photo shows Woods’ car on its side with airbags deployed. There is heavy damage to the front of the car.
Woods was on the mend after a fifth surgery on his back, and was awaiting MRI results before committing to playing professional golf.
He appeared in a TV interview on Sunday where some viewers expressed concern over his appearance. Many believed he was ‘zoned out’ but until further details are released, it’s pure speculation.
He hasn’t played since competing with his son in the PNC Championship in December.
