Making Moves: MLB Trade Deadline Recap

The MLB Trade deadline came it went, but it wasn't without some big changes around the league. Teams had until 4:00pm ET on July 31st to make their trades. Some teams looked to improve short term while others decided to play the long ball. Take a look below to see some of the biggest trades that went down before the deadline.

The New York Mets made a move to improve right now at the expense of their future. They traded prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson for Marcus Stroman from the Blue Jays.

The AL West-leading Houston Astros wouldn't sit quietly while the trade deadline passed them up. Just before the deadline, the Stros traded four prospects to the Arizona Diamondbacks to acquire Zack Greinke. The Astros were big winners. They also grabbed Joe Biagini and Aaron Sanchez.

The addition of Greinke puts the Astros in great position to make a deep run in the playoffs. The rotation of Greinke, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole is a nightmare for any team.

The Atlanta Braves improved their bullpen with the acquisition of Shane Greene, a closer from Detroit and Mark Lelancon, a reliever from San Francisco.

The L.A. Dodgers picked up the versatile, big hitting Jedd Gyrorko from the Arizona Cardinals. Gyrorko will come in handy as the Dodgers deal with several injuries.

The Phillies picked up a big bat from the Pirates. Corey Dickerson, who is hitting .300 with 4 HR's, and 25 RBI's is headed to the City of Brotherly Love.

Cleveland is now home to Yasiel Puig as part of a three-team trade that saw Trevor Bauer going to Cincinnati and Taylor Trammel heading to San Diego. Cleveland also picked up Franmil Reyes and others in the deal
Puig left Kansas City with a bang. After Reds reliever Amir Garrett decided to take on the entire Pirates team by himself when he charged at the dugout fists flying, the benches cleared. Puig, who at this point did not know he had been traded to Cleveland, was all-in on the melee.
