MLB Lock of the Week: Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies will wrap up a three game series on Thursday night. These are the top two teams in the National League East, but there has been a lot of separation between these teams of late. Philadelphia got off to a strong start in 2019, but the Atlanta Braves have blown right past them in the last few weeks. The Thursday night series finale is the MLB Lock of the Week.

Pitching Matchup Favors Braves

The Braves will likely be favored in all three of the games, but the pitching matchup gives them a huge advantage on Thursday. Mike Soroka will be making his 15th start of the season in this game, and has gone 9-1 with a 2.13 earned run average this season. Vince Velasquez is scheduled to start for Philadelphia, and is looking to improve upon his 2-5 record to go along with a 4.73 earned run average.

Freddie Freeman has been the best hitter for the Braves this season, but he has gotten plenty of help. Freeman leads the team with 22 home runs and 63 runs batted in this season, but the Braves have plenty of other stars in Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. The Phillies were hoping to be an offensive juggernaut this season, but they are still waiting on Bryce Harper to heat up. Harper is hitting just over .240 this season and has yet to hit his 15th home run.

Braves Win Series Finale

This pitching matchup is just too hard to ignore, and Atlanta is playing much better than the Phillies at the moment. Philadelphia won't get swept in this series, but they aren't winning this game against Soroka and the Braves. Everything adds up to make the series finale between the Atlanta Braves over the Philadelphia Phillies in the MLB Lock of the Week.

MLB Futures Bets

Since we are nearing the 2019 All Star Game, it is a good time to take a look at some MLB Futures Bets worth making. There are some great opportunities to make some money by getting these bets in right now and taking advantage of favorable odds.

Boston Red Sox +1200 to win AL Pennant: Things have not gone well for the Boston Red Sox in 2019, but there is still half a season left to play. The Red Sox are not given much of a shot to win the American League again this season, and now feels like the perfect time to make a bet on them. Boston obviously has a ton of work to do to get back in the playoff race, but they have the roster to do it.

St. Louis Cardinals +375 to win NL Central Division: The National League Central Division is extremely bunched up, with the Cubs barely clinging to the lead. St. Louis is suffering through a horrible stretch of late, and now is the perfect time to make a bet on them. The Cardinals are one great month away from taking over this division, and they have the roster to pull it off.
