MLB Lock of the Week: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Miami Marlins- Thursday, June 6

Betting on Major League Baseball can be a tricky proposition with upsets happening all of the time throughout the league. There are plenty of intriguing betting options throughout the league in the upcoming week, but there is one game that stands out above the rest. The Milwaukee Brewers will host the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon and that is the MLB Lock of the Week.

Milwaukee enters the week with a ton of momentum, and they are starting to show why they were a playoff team a season ago. The Brewers have improved their record to 34-26 on the season and sit in first place in the National League Central Division. Miami has been playing much better of late, but they are still the worst team in the National League with a record of 20-36. The pitching matchup for this game adds even more separation between the two teams.

Woodruff Continues to Impress

Brandon Woodruff got off to a slow start to the 2019 season, but he has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since the beginning of April. Woodruff will be on the mound in this game, and will be looking to win his seventh straight decision. The right hander brings a 7-1 record into this game, and has a very respectable earned run average of just 3.82. Milwaukee doesn't always get good starting pitching, but they have been when Woodruff takes the ball.

The Milwaukee Brewers also have a terrific offensive lineup that is led by reigning MVP, Christian Yelich. Yelich has picked up right where he left off a season ago, and is hitting .312 with 22 home runs and 49 runs batted in this season. Milwaukee has a deep lineup with Lorenzo Cain at the top, and they have scored 31 runs in their last four games entering the week.

Marlins Just Can't Score Runs

On the flipside, the Miami Marlins are one of the worst offensive teams in baseball, and they don't have the talent to reverse that trend. Miami enters the week hitting just over .231 as a team, and have scored just 180 runs on the season. The Marlins have hit just 41 home runs this season, with Jorge Alfaro leading the team with eight long balls. Miami won't scare any opposing pitcher who opposes them on the mound.

Caleb Smith will be on the mound for the Marlins in this game, and he has actually been one of the best pitchers for Miami. Smith brings a 3-3 record into this game with a very respectable ERA of just 3.10. The young lefthander has lost his last three decisions, and he is facing a very tough lineup in this game.

Brewers Ride Woodruff to Victory

The Miami Marlins just don't have any real threats in their offensive lineup, and the Brewers are always tough to beat at home. Milwaukee will have Brandon Woodruff on the mound, and he should have little trouble with this Marlins lineup. The Marlins might be able to steal a game from the Brewers in this series, but it won't be on Thursday. Bet the Milwaukee Brewers over the Miami Marlins in the MLB Lock of the Week.
