MLB Betting Matchup of the Week: ALCS Game 3

The American League Championship Series heads to New York for the next three games, and they should be extremely competitive. The Houston Astros and New York Yankees have each won a game in this series with the series now shifting East. Game three of this ALCS series is also our MLB Betting Matchup of the Week.

Houston had the best record in baseball in the regular season and are looking to win their second World Series championship in just three season. The Astros came away with a dramatic  3-2 11th inning victory in game two of this series. New York ran away with the AL East Division this season, and swept the Minnesota Twins in the American League Division Series. The Yankees won the series opener over the Astros, but missed out on a chance to take a 2-0 series lead.

Cole Makes Start For Astros

Gerrit Cole will be on the mound for the Astros in this game, and he is having the best season of his career. Cole went 20-5 with a 2.50 earned run average during the regular season and was dominant against the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALDS.  The Astros' bullpen was dominant in game two of this series as well, and Houston likely won't give up many runs in this one.

Carlos Correa was the offensive star for the Astros in game two of this series, but they are loaded with weapons. Correa blasted a walk off home run to even up the series, and also had an RBI double earlier in the game. The Astros were one of the best offensive teams in baseball this season, and they are capable of breaking out at anytime.

Yankees Bats Need to Wake Up

The New York Yankees are going to need to find their offense again, but it won't be easy against Gerrit Cole. Aaron Judge blasted a two run home run on Sunday night, but that was all the Yankees could muster on offense. Young phenom Gleyber Torres had five runs batted in to lift the Yankees in game one, but the Astros are going to pitch around the young second baseman.

Luis Severino will be on the mound for the Yankees in game three, and he is the best option for battling Cole. Severino went 1-1 with a 1.50 earned run average in the month of September after missing the beginning of the season with injury. New York has a talented bullpen, and they will be called upon at the first sign of trouble in this game.

Cole, Astros Take 2-1 Series Lead

The New York Yankees will be playing this game in their home ballpark, but they are not the favorites in the game. Gerrit Cole has just simply been too good this entire season, and he will be a nightmare for the New York hitters. Look for the Astros to get just enough offense to back Cole and find a way to win this game. Bet the Houston Astros over the New York Yankees in the MLB Betting Matchup of the Week.
