The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are in a best-of-five series for the world title after they split the first two games of the 2020 World Series. The Dodgers won the opening game of the series 8-3, but Tampa Bay came back with a 6-4 win on Wednesday. Let’s take a closer look at the Dodgers vs Rays betting predictions, one of the better MLB betting matchups this season.
For Game 3, the Dodgers come in as favorites. Los Angeles is listed at -150.
Morton Looks to Use Experience
The Rays’ Charlie Morton will look to use his postseason experience as he goes to the rubber. Morton threw twice in the ALCS against Houston and did not allow a run. He finished with seven hits allowed in 10 2/3 innings.
During those two starts, he struck out 12 and walked just two. In the first series against the New York Yankees, he went five innings, allowing just four hits. Morton is 36 and has experience in the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017.
Offensively, the Rays got going on Wednesday. Two home runs from Brandon Lowe were a breath of fresh air, as he was in a major slump.
Tampa Bay finished the regular season 21st in the league in batting with a .238 average. Willy Adames also broke through in the Game 2 win with his first hit of the World Series.
Manager Kevin Cash plans on using every player on his roster series. There was a time in the Game 2 win where Cash pinch ran for two guys at the same time. Cash has pushed all the right buttons thus far in the Rays’ 10 postseason wins.
Dodgers Turn to Buehler
If you have never seen Walker Buehler pitch before, you will want to tune in. This guy is a stud. The 26-year-old from Louisville, Ky., has also been dynamite in the postseason.
In four appearances, he has allowed just four earned runs. Over 19 innings pitched, he has struck out 29. That should bode well against a Rays team that certainly will strike out often.
Offensively, the Dodgers would like to see a little more out of Justin Turner. While Turner has hits in both games of the World Series, he has gone three games without a home run and has one in the postseason.
Los Angeles saw Mookie Betts get on base three times in the Game 1 win, but went 0-for-3 with a walk in Game 2. Corey Seager stayed hot with a home run and two hits in the Game 2 loss.
Dave Roberts will be under the gun again in Game 3. How long will he let his starting pitcher go? Is the bullpen ready to get more outs?
Is Joe Kelly a guy they will continue to turn to, despite getting beat up a little in Game 2? Tons of questions, and we cannot wait to find out the answers!
Dodgers vs Rays MLB Betting Predictions
It’s been a fun series. Different heroes have stepped forward so far, as the Dodgers saw a big Game 1 from Betts and Cody Bellinger.
Lowe was the hero in Game 2, with a pair of home runs. Now, we await a Game 3 hero to see how our MLB betting turns out.
This is an excellent pitching matchup, and the total is low again at 7.5. Runs could be at a premium. The team that comes up with a clutch late hit is going to win this game and be two wins away from winning the World Series.
We are betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who we feel are the better team. In making our MLB picks, we’re betting Los Angeles -150 on Friday night.
