Summer League Making A Splash With Hoops Fans

NBA Summer League
Salt Lake City & California: July 1st - 3rd
Las Vegas: July 5th - 15th

The NBA Summer League has garnered some serious attention this year.

In Las Vegas, New Orleans is seeing some serious potential out of their young players. Frank Jackson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker put up big numbers in their time on the court. Jackson scored 30 points on 65% shooting in one Summer League game with the Pelicans. Alexander-Walker averaged 24.5 points and 7 assists over the course of two games. Jaxson Hayes shot 70% from the field and put up 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in his two games.

Zion Williamson only played nine minutes, but in that time, he scored 11 points and a highlight steal and dunk where he straight up muscled the ball away from the other player. Zion's strength and athleticism are unmatched among these young players. He plays with a grit and ferocity that will make him a force as he develops his other skills.

The Utah Jazz have seen great things from Tony Bradley. Bradley, who was the 28th pick in the 2017 draft, is looking like a man among boys on the court. The 6'10" Tarheel put up 20 points and 15.5 rebounds in his two Salt Lake City games with the Jazz. Bradley shot 60% from the field and blocked five shots in the two games.

Bradley wasn't alone in Salt Lake City. Brantley Jarrell, Justin Wright-Foreman, and Willie Reed also scored double-digits for the Jazz. Reed, however, was the much more efficient player. He shot 62% from the floor and put in work on the glass, picking up 10.5 rebounds in his two games.

Kendrick Nunn, Tyler Herro, and Yante Maten were dynamic trio for the Miami Heat in the California Summer League. The three players combined for 61.5 points per game. Nunn led the bunch with 24 points, though Maten was the more productive player. Maten shot 41% from the field and averaged 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

RJ Barrett played all four games for the Knicks. He averaged over 30 minutes per game. He scored 14 points per game on just 30% shooting. Barrett crashed the boards for 8.8 rebounds per contest.

Kevin Knox had the better showing for the Knicks. He scored 17.3 points and recorded 6 rebounds per game, however he did so on 41% shooting.
