NBA Pick of the Week: Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves

The 2019-20 NBA regular season is in full swing and teams are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. There have been some early surprises so far this season and the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves have been two of them, but for different reasons. These two teams will meet up on Friday night, and this game is the NBA Pick of the Week.

The Minnesota Timberwolves enter the week with a record of 4-1, and they sit in first place in the Northwest Division. Minnesota won their first home game of the season, and should be tough on their home floor all season. Golden State has started off the season by winning just one of their first six games, and they are a complete mess. It looks as if the Warriors dominance over the Western Conference is quickly coming to an end.

Warriors Just Have No Offense

The Golden State Warriors just scored only 87 points in their most recent loss, and this is a team that is searching for offense. Golden State has already lost Stephen Curry for at least a few months, and Draymond Green will miss this game as well. The Warriors will struggle to score without the "Splash Brothers" in the lineup, and the Timberwolves should keep them to a low number in this game.

Golden State had given up at least 120 points through their first five games before keeping the Charlotte Hornets under 100. Injuries not only affect the Warriors offense, but it has taken apart what used to be one of the league's best defenses. With no real rim protector on this roster, the Timberwolves should dominate the paint.

Towns Doing it All For Minnesota

Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging more than 27 points and 11.5 rebounds per game this season for Minnesota, and he is one of the best centers in the NBA. Towns should be nice and refreshed for this game after serving a two-game suspension for fighting Joel Embiid. The Timberwolves are averaging close to 115 points per game this season, and they will have a big night in this game.

Defense has been a struggle for the Timberwolves in recent seasons, but that hasn't been the case so far in 2019. Minnesota is right in the middle of the pack by allowing just over 114 points per game, but they should be much better in this game. The Timberwolves have the good fortune of facing a depleted Warriors offensive attack, and they should keep Golden State to less than 100 points.

Timberwolves Dominate Shorthanded Warriors

Both teams were expected to compete for a playoff spot this season, but that doesn't appear likely for the Warriors this season. Golden State is running out of healthy players this season, and it's hard to imagine them winning many games this month.
