The Houston Rockets (14-39) likely didn’t envision things going this badly when the season kicked off, but here they are. The Rockets have shown flashes of brilliance, but haven’t been able to put together a winning ensemble yet. However, Houston does play the fourth-place Phoenix Suns (37-15) closely, having covered ATS in both head-to-head meetings this season.
Looking at the BetUS sportsbook, for this game, the Rockets are catching a dozen points. The total is set at 229½ points.
What’s most interesting about those Rockets ATS wins, is that they hung so tightly without the services of John Wall. On January 20, Houston had three players score 20 points or more, with Eric Gordon’s 22 points leading the team. Ultimately, Phoenix center Deandre Ayton’s domination down low made the difference, as Ayton scored 26 and muscled 17 rebounds. The Suns escaped the Toyota Center with a 109-103 victory.
Again Ayton scored well above his season average against Houston on April 5, posting 27 points and 11 boards. Devin Booker led the Suns with 36 points, and once more Phoenix snuck out of Houston with a 133-130 win. The Rockets had seven players score in double digits, and John Wall’s presence likely would have flipped the outcome.
Houston’s superstar PG has struggled with injuries, but Wall has scored 30 points or more in his last two games. Look for Wall to be an absolute difference-maker here. The Rockets have covered vs the Suns twice already without Wall, so take Houston with Wall, and head to our basketball betting odds and take advantage!
There’s an outside chance that the Rockets fly so high as to surpass the Suns straight up. If you’re feeling frisky, Houston’s moneyline of +600 is super juicy and ripe to be picked. A $50 wager on the Rockets SU wins the courageous gambler $300 when it comes through. The Phoenix Rising is about to hit a formidable Wall. Capitalize on it.
