We have a New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors NBA betting preview and picks for Thursday’s game at Chase Center, which tips off at 10:00 pm, ET.
The Knicks have a similar record to Golden State, which might surprise a few online betting enthusiasts. They are holding their own, but a real test comes against Steph Curry and the Warriors this week.
BetUS has odds for every NBA game this season, so check out the online sportsbook for the latest Knicks vs. Warriors odds.
Golden State Scores Statement Win Over Lakers
Golden State caused a stir in the NBA universe when completing an incredible comeback against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
Facing a 14-point deficit in the final quarter of the game, Golden State went on a run, and it wasn’t Steph Curry who did the damage.
It was the likes of Kelly Oubre Jr, Eric Paschall, Kent Bazmore, and Brad Wanamaker who did damage. Curry had eight points in the quarter, but his teammates proved their worth, and it was exciting to watch.
If the Warriors can continue to produce thrilling performances such as Monday’s against the Lakers, they have a chance of success. The responsibility shouldn’t be put firmly on Curry’s shoulders, so it was great to see his supporting crew turn up.
It was a much needed win for the Warriors, who had dropped their last two games to Denver and Indiana. Beating Los Angeles at STAPLES Center is one way to reinstate confidence in your team.
Has Patience Paid Off For New York?
It has been a rough few years for the New York Knicks, and that’s an understatement. However, years of losing could be starting to pay off.
The Knicks have a team capable of competing in the Eastern Conference, and they showed that when beating Boston 105-75. That impressive win was followed up by a 91-84 performance against Orlando.
At 7-8 on the season, New York could now have belief in its systems. It had to endure a five-game losing streak this season, but we have seen patches of impressive basketball.
RJ Barrett is a player to get excited about, and we haven’t mentioned Julius Randle, who is averaging a double-double. Randle averages 22.8 points per game, 11 rebounds and 6.1 assists. A few more dimes, and the power forward could notch a triple-double average.
It appears as though the patience shown by New York’s front office is starting to pay off, albeit slowly. Knicks bettors could be about to cash in with higher frequency.
A Contrast In Styles Awaits
Golden State is a power-scoring team, and it averages 111.6 points per game. However, the Warriors give up 115.2 points per game on defense, which is a disappointing statistic.
New York is more consistent, which should make for an interesting contrast in styles. The Knicks score 100.6 points per game and allow 102.7, so if the Knicks defense can hold true, the Warriors could struggle.
Those averages could be inflated due to playing in different conferences, but Golden State is known to play lackadaisical defense, and rely on its superior shooting numbers.
Warriors To Win, But Knicks To Keep It Close
We think the Golden State Warriors will have too much in the tank for the Knicks. However, there should be value in the NBA market for New York.
The betting line should be around 7-8 points, and we are comfortable with New York getting the game close and covering the spread.
Golden State will still be on a high following its dramatic win in Los Angeles. That plays into the hands of the Knicks, who have already shown that they can win on the road against top-tier teams.
If bettors get anything close to our projected line, have faith in the NY Knicks to get the job done.
