A stacked Wednesday is on deck for the NBA barring any postponements (don’t hold your breath). From a bird’s eye view, this should be a competitive day but three matchups have noticeable edges from an NBA betting standpoint.
Find all the NBA lines from the BetUS sportsbook where you can also adjust the spreads as most of the NBA games have tricky matchups. The key is to find an edge, one thing a team is better at than their opponent, to help you win at online sports betting.
Pistons Can Edge Error-Prone Hawks
It’s not every day you see a 3-10 team get called “underrated”, but the Detroit Pistons’ winning record against the spread (7-5-1) deserves praise while Atlanta is 6-7 in both their regular record and ATS record.
The Pistons are among the favorites to be a lottery team per NBA odds and they have a bizarre build to their roster. But coach Dwane Casey has his boys playing hard and is most apparent with F Jerami Grant’s improvement to being a go-to option with his 24.9 points per game.
The Hawks have an inconsistent offense. They rank 28th in the NBA in field goal percent (43.7) and 19th in turnovers (14.5). Most damning is how they only force turnovers on 12.5% of possessions (26th). This means Atlanta is rarely winning turnover battles.
That’s where Detroit is secretly good at (even if it doesn’t win games for them). The Pistons are second in the NBA in forcing turnovers (16.8 percent) while their 12.6 turnovers per game is fifth overall. The less sexy Pistons can just edge Atlanta here by winning the turnover battle. If anything, they should cover the spread.
Pick: Detroit Pistons to cover +6 (-110)
Reeling from their last four games, the Phoenix Suns get an opportunity to get back on track by searing the lottery-destined Rockets. Without James Harden, Houston will be having more problems than the four games they’ve dropped in their last five.
The Rockets acquired G Victor Oladipo from the Pacers but he is a far cry from his All-Star form. F Christian Wood carries the torch for Houston but even his 23.8 points and 10.7 boards per game hasn’t been enough to keep the Rockets from a 4-8 record.
Houston relied on Harden too much and going from him to Oladipo is a big step down. Meanwhile, Phoenix carries the eighth-best offense ( 111.7 offensive rating) and is just more functional all around. Their 2.01 assist-to-turnover ratio is tied for second in the league while Houston’s 1.43 is second-worst.
Despite having lost three of its last four (all as favorites), Phoenix should get back on track and beat the Rockets decisively.
Pick: Phoenix Suns to win (-240)
Clippers Run It Back
It will be just like deja vu when the Clippers take on the Kings, their second meeting in five days. Led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Los Angeles Clippers have been nuclear in their four consecutive victories with a 128.6 offensive rating and a net rating of +20.5, both leading the league.
The Kings, on the other hand, have dropped five of their last six and eight of their last ten. In their three-game losing skid, they have an NBA-worst 135.4 defensive rating and -17.5 net rating. Not even G De’Aaron Fox’s 43-point explosion was enough to get them a win.
Both teams have fiery offenses. Even the Kings registered the fourth-best offensive rating (117.9) during their three-game skid. The totals for this game are bonkers and I can’t recommend playing it. But I am confident the Clippers will blow out the Kings again.
Pick: Los Angeles Clippers to win and cover -10.5 (-110)
Parlay: Detroit to cover +6.(-110), Phoenix to win (-240), and Clippers to cover -10.5 (-110) at +416
There are no such things as easy parlays, but this is one of the easiest parlays to make. Both Phoenix and Clippers are solid bets and going up against inferior teams they should easily bounce. Detroit is the swing bet here as the underdogs should make the game close enough with Atlanta to cover.
Feel free to swap any of these teams with others or bet each team individually for a lower return but higher chance of cashing. Either way, do so with the BetUS sportsbook and read the sportsbook reviews to learn more on all your betting options.
