Dallas Mavericks (5-4) vs Charlotte Hornets (6-5)
When: Wednesday, 7 p.m.. ET
Where: Spectrum Center
Analysis: The Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets are one game above .500, but that will change for one team. Dallas got to that mark with three consecutive wins, after dropping four of its first six games.
During its three-game winning streak, Dallas defeated Houston, Denver, and Orlando. It scored 112 points or more in all three wins, so the offense was better than its season average.
MVP candidate, Luka Doncic, is averaging 26.6 points per game according to NBA.com. And, he is almost averaging a triple-double. Doncic is grabbing 9.1 rebounds per game, and dishing out 8.3 assists. He’s on track for another brilliant season.
Charlotte is riding a longer winning streak after scoring four on the bounce. The Hornets defeated Atlanta, New Orleans, and New York. The two wins over Atlanta are a good guide for NBA bettors, so they are capable of producing the goods again.
When the Hornets are firing on all cylinders, they are tough to get past. LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward are doing most of the damage, but Charlotte plays right into the hands of Dallas.
The Mavericks will love the up-tempo pace, and Doncic can strike on the counter-attack. Expect Dallas to withstand the early barrage of points from Charlotte, before pulling away for the victory.
Pick: Mavericks 112 Charlotte 106
Utah Jazz (6-4) vs Washington Wizards (3-8)
When: Wednesday, 7 p.m, ET
Where: Capital One Arena
Analysis: The Washington Wizards scored an overdue win over the Phoenix Suns on Monday, and that momentum could carry over. Washington won 128-107 over the Suns, and Bradley Beal continued his dominance.
Beal is averaging 34.9 points per game and is flourishing without John Wall on the roster. He has also benefited from Russell Westbrook’s absence, which allows Beal to run the offense.
Despite posting a 3-8 record, Washington is capable of going on a winning run. It already has wins over Brooklyn and Phoenix — quality NBA teams. Therefore, the Wizards are more than capable of beating Utah.
The Utah Jazz are riding a two-game winning streak after beating the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit. The win over the Bucks was a quality performance, scoring 131 points. Wins like that are a reason why the Jazz are highly respected.
Bettors could find reasons to bet on both teams, but we fancy Washington to score consecutive wins. It couldn’t have been more impressive on Monday, and that confidence should carry over.
Utah is a team that needs to be respected. However, bettors should get value online NBA betting odds for Washington, and it can boost Parlay payouts.
Pick: Wizards 112, Jazz 105
New Orleans Pelicans (4-5) vs Los Angeles Clippers (7-4)
When: Wednesday, 10 p.m., ET
Where: STAPLES Center
Analysis: Consistency has been tough to come by for Los Angeles, after trading wins and losses over its last five games. The LA Clippers are still one of the favored teams to win the Western Conference, but they’ll need to improve.
They scored a win over Phoenix before losing to the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State. The Clippers’ most recent win came over the Chicago Bulls, but they allowed 127 points in the three-point victory. It wasn’t a great defensive performance, and they now face a team with plenty of scoring options.
The New Orleans Pelicans have shown consistency but of the wrong variety. They scored back-to-back wins over the Thunder and Raptors but are currently riding a three-game losing streak.
Losses to the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Charlotte have threatened to derail progress. Zion Williamson hasn’t found his rhythm but it’s only a matter of time. Williamson, along with Brandon Ingram, needs to fire to beat the Clippers.
Los Angeles and New Orleans are capable of producing the goods on any given night. This game could come down to which team plays better defense, and we’re going with the Clippers.
They have lock-down defenders, and Kawhi Leonard is starting to get hot. If Leonard and George can fire up, the Pelicans will be in for a long night.
Pick: Clippers, Pelicans 100
