NCAAF Betting Preview & Free Pick: Miami Hurricanes vs. #8 Florida

Miami Hurricanes vs. #8 Florida Gators
Saturday, August 24th - 7:00PM ET - Camping World Stadium, Orlando, FL
Betting Line: Florida -7, Total 47.5

This week's NCAA football action will kick off with the Miami Hurricanes taking on the Florida Gators in Orlando, FL. The 8th ranked Gators opened as 7-point favorites over Miami, but it's the latter that have owned the series.

Miami is 5-1 straight up and against the spread versus Florida. The last time these teams met, was in 2013, when Miami beat Florida 21-16 at 3 point underdogs. The Hurricanes have covered the spread in their last three meetings dating back to 2004. All three of those games went Under.

Miami has made a change at quarterback this season, giving the nod to Jarren Williams, at least for now. Williams, who committed to Miami in '17 rode the bench in '18. He beat out N'Kosi Perry and Ohio State transfer Tate Martell for the job

Feleipe Franks will return under center for the Gators. Franks is a monster of a man. Standing at 6' 6", 230 pounds, Franks is a force on the field.

While Florida would love to see more consistency out of their starting quarterback, Franks did show signs of brilliance down the stretch. He will benefit from the return of Lamical Perine, who averaged over six yards rushing in '18.

Franks and Perine will have to deal with four new starts on the offensive line. This could pose problems for the offense if the line doesn't mesh well early.

Miami allowed an ACC Coastal-low 253 points last season. They finished just 7-6 on the season. Florida scored 455 points last season, the third highest in the SEC East. The Gators won 10 games, including five of their seven at home.

Historical trends give Miami the advantage, but recent events have me leaning heavily towards Florida. The Gators are the stronger pick here. Take Florida to win straight up. Florida also allowed just 260 points last season, the second-best in the division.
