We're going to take a calculated risk for this upcoming NCAAF Lock of the Week. Oklahoma State will travel to Oregon State to take on the Beavers under the Friday night lights of Reser Stadium.

These are two teams that ended their season trending in the wrong direction. But this is college football. One team has to win. In this case, not only will that team win, they'll cover the spread.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys finished their 2018 campaign with a 7-6 record. They held down the fort at home, but struggled on the road, where they won just one of five games. The Cowboys won their final game of the season, but it was a downtrending end to an otherwise disappointing season. The Cowboys had finished 10-3 just one season earlier. The same season where they finished 6-0 on the road.

OSU head coach Mike Gundy is playing his cards close to his chest. The 15-year coach won't reveal who will start for his alma mater until game time on Friday night. Redshirt freshman Spencer Sanders and Hawaii transfer Dru Brown are both competing for the starting gig.

Both quarterbacks show potential and have reportedly played equally well. Brown passed for 37 touchdowns and 15 interceptions as Hawaii's started in '16 and '17. He played just one snap in '18. Brown is a senior who stands at 5' 11", 200 lbs.

Sanders, the freshman, stands at 6' 2", 195 lbs. He is a highly touted recruit out of Texas who sat out last season.

Both quarterbacks will benefit from having Chuba Hubbard in the backfield. Hubbard was second in the depth chart at RB last season behind the departed Justin Hill. As the second option, Hubbard ran for 740 yards on a solid 6.0 yards per carry. Hubbard also caught 22 passes for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tylan Wallace is returning to the Cowboys roster after a very productive year. Wallace caught 86 passes for 1,491 yards and 12 touchdowns last year.

That offensive production will come in handy for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State lost their last four road games to end the season. They finished 1-4 straight up on the road in 2018.

Oregon State won their home opener against Southern Utah in 2018. They didn't win another home game the rest of the year. In fact, the Beavers are 2-10 straight up at home since 2017. They have been outscored 471-269 at home over the last two seasons. They're losing by an average of 17 points at home.

Oklahoma State will break their road skid and get off to a solid start in 2019. Take the Cowboys to cover 14 points in their season opener over Oregon State on Friday night.
