Odds: Florida Gators -7.5
Total: 47.5

College football is back this week, and we have a monster game to kick things off. The Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes will square off in an epic clash on Saturday night with the game taking place in Orlando. These are two of the most storied college football programs in the world, and this is a great way to kick off the 2019 college football season.

Florida finished the 2018 regular season with a record of 10-3, and earned a victory over the Michigan Wolverines in the Peach Bowl. The Gators should contend for the SEC title again this season, but that conference is loaded with top teams. Miami got off to a great start in 2018, but things fell apart for them in a big way. The Hurricanes ended the 2018 season with a record of 7-6, including a loss to Wisconsin in the Pinstripes Bowl. Florida is a -7.5 point favorite over Miami in this game.

Franks Set to Lead Gators Offense

The Florida Gators will have Feleipe Franks under center this season, and he is without a doubt the most important player on the Florida team. The Gators averaged 34.8 points per game during the 2018 season, but they are expecting an even bigger season from Franks in 2019. The quarterback completed just over 58 percent of his passes in 2018, and his inaccuracy left a lot of points off the board for the Gators.

The Gators were a top 25 defense a season ago, and return much of their defensive roster this season as well. Florida has put together another terrific recruiting class, and they will have some heavy hitters on the defensive side of the ball. The Gators should benefit from offensive attack this season, and that should give the defense a chance to catch their breath. Look for Florida to apply plenty of pressure to the young Hurricanes' quarterback in this game.

Hurricanes Defense Hopes to Dominate

The Miami Hurricanes enter the 2019 season with plenty of question marks on offense, but their defense should be absolutely loaded. The Hurricanes have a new head coach in Manny Diaz and he is expected to bring the swagger back in Miami. Miami gave up just 15.2 points per game a season ago, which was the 15th best mark in the country. The Hurricanes are taking on a tough offense in this game, but they won't be overmatched.

Jarren Williams has been named the starting quarterback for Miami this season, beating out a pair of other quarterbacks in the process. The Hurricanes really struggled to throw the ball a season ago, and there will be plenty of pressure on Williams to perform. Miami should have a terrific defense in this game, but their offense will have to show up at some point.

Gators Win Season Opener

These two teams should give fans a terrific performance in this game, but there can only be one winner. Florida should be one of the top teams in the country this season, and they will eventually pull away. The Hurricanes will be much improved this season, but they aren't winning this game. Bet the Florida Gators -7.5 over the Miami Hurricanes.
