NCAA Football Game of the Week: Georgia Bulldogs at Florida Gators

The biggest and best game on the college football calendar this weekend will be a huge SEC Showdown in the Swamp. The Florida Gators will host the Georgia Bulldogs in a battle for first place in the SEC East Division. This is one of the best rivalries in college football, and these two teams have delivered some classic games over the years.

Both teams come into this game with just one loss on the season, and both teams are still ranked in the top-10. Georgia suffered a crushing overtime loss to South Carolina just two weeks ago, but responded with a 21-0 win a week ago. Florida suffered a 42-28 loss to LSU, but bounced back with a 38-27 win over South Carolina. The Georgia Bulldogs are -5.5 point favorites over the Florida Gators in this week 10 game.

Florida Defense Must Be Great

Florida has a decent offense this season, but their real strength is in their defense. The Gators are allowing just over 15.0 points per game, but they have been giving up plenty of points of late. The defense has racked up 29 sacks so far in 2019, and they should get plenty of pressure on Georgia QB Jake Fromm. The real test will be against the vaunted rushing attack that Georgia will throw at them.

Quarterback Kyle Trask has been solid since taking over the job earlier this season, but he will face a tough defense in this one. Trask has completed 68 percent of his pass attempts, but has taken 13 sacks, and must get rid of the ball against Georgia. Running back Lamical Perine will need to run the ball well, and he is averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season.

Georgia Bulldogs Want to Run

Speaking of running the football, that is one of the strengths of this Georgia team. The Bulldogs run the ball for nearly 240 yards per game, and establishing the run will be a key against this great Florida defense. D'Andre Swift is averaging close to 7.0 yards per carry, but the Bulldogs have a number of weapons out of the backfield. Quarterback Jake Fromm has completed 71 percent of his passes, and he might be asked to do more in this game.

The Florida defense gets plenty of hype, but the Georgia defense has actually been better this season. Georgia is allowing less than 11 points per game this season, and are coming off of a shutout against Kentucky. Georgia has just 16 sacks on the season, but they have a talented secondary and a huge defensive line to defend the run.

Georgia Knocks off Rival in the Swamp

There is no hiding the fact that these two teams do not like each other, and that should make for a terrific matchup on Saturday. Both teams have just one loss on the season, but they have both responded in a huge way. The Georgia Bulldogs will try to win this game by running the football against one of the top defenses in the country. Florida just doesn't have enough offense to keep up, and that is going to cost them the game.Bet the Georgia Bulldogs -5.5 over the Florida Gators in this SEC Showdown.
