NCAAF Game Of The Week

There are several terrific college football games on the schedule this weekend, but one game stands above the rest. The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns will square off in the 2019 edition of the Red River Rivalry game. Both of these teams were in the Big 12 title game a season ago, and the winner of this game will likely win it again.

Oklahoma comes into this game with a perfect 5-0 record, and they have been blowing teams out this season. The Sooners have not played a ranked opponent this season, and that could hurt them a bit in this game. Texas enters this game with a 4-1 record this season, but their only loss came to LSU. The Longhorns won this game a season ago, and won't be scared of the Sooners. Oklahoma is a -9.5 point favorite in this game.

Sooners Can Score Points in a Hurry

The Oklahoma Sooners can put up points in a hurry, and they get it done in a variety of ways. Quarterback Jalen Hurts leads the team 499 rushing yards this season, and has also been extremely sharp through the air. The former Alabama product has completed over 75 percent of his passes this season, and has the Sooners offense averaging over 53 points per game. Oklahoma has some other stars on offense, but everything runs through Hurts this season.

There were plenty of questions surrounding the Oklahoma defense a season ago, but they have been sharp so far in 2019. The Sooners are giving up just 18.0 points per game, and they have some NFL talent on that side of the ball. Oklahoma will put plenty of pressure on Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger in this game in hopes of forcing turnovers.

Ehlinger Must Keep Texas in the Game

Sam Ehlinger feels like he has been at Texas for a long time, but he is playing his best football of his career this season. Ehlinger has thrown for over 1,700 yards already this season and has thrown 17 touchdown passes. The Longhorns have three different players with over 236 rushing yards this season, and they will need to find some balance on offense in this game.

The Texas defense has taken a huge step back this season, and that could be a big problem in this game. The Longhorns have allowed over 26 points per game this season, and gave up 45 of them to LSU. Texas has forced 11 turnovers already this season, and that will be a huge key in this game. The Longhorns can't afford to get into a shootout with the Sooners, because they won't be able to keep up.

Oklahoma Just Too Much For Texas Defense

This game has produced some terrific moments during the last few seasons, and this should be another great game. Texas has already faced a top-10 opponent this season, and they were in that game until the very end. The Longhorns will keep this game close for a long time against the Sooners, but Oklahoma is just too good. Bet the Oklahoma Sooners -9.5 over the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry.
