Ed's Top 3 NFL Betting Picks For Week 5

Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Sunday, October 6th - 4:05PM ET - Dignity Health Sports Park, Los Angeles, CA
Betting Line: Los Angeles -6.5, Total TBD

The Chargers won the NFL sweepstakes in Week 4. They were the latest team to stomp all over the Dolphins.

Philip Rivers lit up the Dolphins defense for 310 yards and 2 touchdowns. Austin Ekeler racked up 122 total yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 60 yards and a score and caught for 62 yards and a score.

Melvin Gordon is expected to make his return for the Chargers. That's bad news for a Broncos defense that allowed Leonard Fournette to run for 225 yards.

The Chargers should make light work of the Broncos this Sunday. Jump on this line before the line makers wisen up and make this double-digits.

New York Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, October 6th - 1:00PM ET - Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
Betting Line: TBD

The Eagles picked up a much needed win at Green Bay on Thursday night to avoid going down 1-3.

Carson Wentz rallied the troops and played good football when it mattered. Wentz has now passed for 963 yards and 9 touchdowns this season. He's been intercepted just twice.

The Philly rushing duo of Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders carved up Green Bay's defense in the win.

The Jets have allowed 23 points per game this season. Defenses are lighting them up for 286 passing yards every week.

Their quarterback situation has been a messy one. Due to injury and illness, New York has played three quarterbacks this season: Sam Darnold, Trevor Siemian, and Luke Falk. Neither player has been productive. Sam Darnold is the only Jets quarterback to throw a touchdown this season and he hasn't played since Week 1.

These should be a comfortable win for Philly, who has been plagued by injuries all season. Alshon Jeffrey's return was felt. He will continue to improve as he gets healthy.

Take Philadelphia over New York in this one.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Carolina Panthers
Sunday, October 6th - 1:00PM ET - Bank of America Stadium, Charlotta, NC
Betting Line: Carolina -13, Total TBD

I don't know if Minshew mania is real, but the Jags have won their last two games with Gardner Minshew at the helm. He led a last-minute comeback over the Broncos at Denver in Week 4.

Leonard Fournette had a career day. He set the field ablaze with a career-high 225 rushing yards against Denver.

Perhaps two consecutive wins will be enough to entice Jalen Ramsey to return to the team.

The Panthers scored a big win on the road at Houston. Kyle Allen completed 24 of 34 passes for 232 yards. Christian McCaffrey exposed the Texans for 179 total yards and a touchdown (93 rushing and 86 receiving).

The Carolina defense sacked the very-hittable Deshaun Watson six times in the game.

Still, I'm riding the Minshew mania wave and taking the points in this one.
