Turkey Day Smack Down - Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions

Chicago Bears (5-6) vs. Detroit Lions (3-7)
Thursday, November 21st - 8:20PM ET - Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Betting Line: Chicago -3, Total 38.5

The Chicago Bears will look to layeth the smacketh down on the Detroit Lions for the second time this month. The Bears and Lions will meet in Detroit's traditional Thanksgiving Day game this Thursday.

In addition to a win over a divisional foe and everything else that comes with winning a game on Thanksgiving Day, FOX announced that the game MVP will win the Thanksgiving Championship -- a custom WWE title belt. This may sound like a surprise (and it is), but the abundance of WWE promotion during FOX NFL games this season should simmer that shock.

Da Bears are coming off a win over the Giants last week. They held off the Giants on their way to a 19-14 win.

Khalil Mack -- who has the name and physique to be a WWE talent -- strip-sacked NY quarterback Daniel Jones to set up a Chicago touchdown.

Allen Robinson II recorded a season-high 131 receiving yards and caught Trubisky's only touchdown pass of the game.

If Chicago wins, it will be in spite of Mitch Trubisky, not thanks to him. The third year quarterback is just not very good. He struggled last year and is having another poor year. Trubisky has passed for just 1,858 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has six touchdowns and has been sacked 25 times.

Not much happened on the ground in Chicago last week either. The Bears crawled to 65 rushing yards on 26 carries. They allowed just 109 rushing yards, including 59 to Saquon Barkley.

If Chicago beats Detroit -- which I believe will happen -- the MVP and winner of the Thanksgiving Championship will be on defense. For starters, I don't expect much offense on a cold November day in Chicago. The Bears have averaged 15 points per game this month. Robinson has been their only constant on offense this season.

To be fair, Trubisky passed for three touchdowns the last time these teams played. He completed 16 of 23 passes for 173 yards and no interceptions.

Detroit has lost seven of their last eight games, including their last four straight. With Driskel under center, the Lions are 0-3. Their most recent loss was a Week 12 L suffered at the hands of the Washington Redskins.

Driskell threw three interceptions and was sacked six times against Washington's defense, who is 2-9 this season.

My money is on Khalil Mack to win the Thanksgiving Championship title on the way to a Bears win and cover on the road.
