Straight Up (Gilad Chudler)
This is going to be another matchup with teams trying to avoid the dreaded 0-2 start. The Atlanta Falcons lost their Week 1 game to the Seattle Seahawks. 38-25. Matt Ryan gave it his best and went 37-of-54 for 450 yards, including two touchdown passes. He threw one interception. Things were tough on the rushing end and Todd Gurley was the only player who seemed to make a dent with 14 carries, 56 yards and one touchdown.
Atlanta kept its receivers busy with Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage all boasting nine receptions. Jones led the way with 157 yards while Ridley got two touchdowns. All in all, it was a solid performance offensively.
The Cowboys began their season with a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Dak Prescott completed 25-of-39 for 266 yards and a touchdown. He also had three carries for 30 yards.
This game is expected to be one of, if not the highest-scoring of the week so prepare yourself for an exciting matchup. In the end the Cowboys’ running game will outshine the Falcons and Dallas will claim its first win of the season.
Against the Spread (Sebastian Morera)
The Falcons delivered 506 total yards on offense against the Seahawks. Despite that yardage, Atlanta put up just 25 points against the Seahawks. A lot of the Falcons’ drives ended in turnovers or field goals, which will certainly lead to a loss against a team like the Seahawks. And if the Falcons don’t find a way to convert, they’re likely to give Dallas their first win of the season.
The Cowboys opened a 20-17 loss to the Rams. Dallas was supposed to be one of this year’s favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. However, it’s clear the Cowboys have a lot to learn under new head coach Mike McCarthy. As a Packer fan, I’m not expecting McCarthy to accomplish much in Dallas. Having said that, expect the Falcons to come out on top here.
Over/Under (Zack Robinson)
No more excuses for QB Matt Ryan as the Atlanta Falcons surrounded him with a ton of talent. WR’s Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, RB Todd Gurley and TE Hayden Hurst; yes, that was not enough to beat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, but it should be to beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.
Speaking of the Dallas Cowboys, it seems like HC Mike McCarthy couldn’t solve many of the problems he inherited. QB Dak Prescott needs to think less about the money and more about football.
Both teams need a victory badly. Go with the over as the total has gone over in six of Dallas’ last seven games when playing home against Atlanta.
